1) W. Valley Green Rd is currently closed between Stenton Ave and Cricket Rd. The flood gates have been lowered. Please avoid the area. The creek is still rising currently due to the heavy rains in the county.
2) Stenton Ave is closed between Sheaff Lane and Militia Hill Road.
3) River Road between Harts Lane and Manor Rd

We will continue to monitor the water levels and weather conditions. Roadways will be opened once water recedes. Turn Around - Don't Drown

U.S. 30 (Coatesville-Downingtown Bypass), Route 82 (Manor Road) Restricted for ITS Improvements Project

​King of Prussia, PA – Alternating lane and shoulder closures are scheduled on U.S. 30 (Coatesville-Downingtown Bypass) and Route 82 (Manor Road) in Chester County, on Tuesday, December 1, through Friday, December 4, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, for Intelligent Transportation System (ITS) installations, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today. The work is part of a project to install ITS improvements on U.S. 30 (Coatesville-Downingtown Bypass) and a 20-mile stretch of Business U.S. 30 that extends from west of Route 10 (Octorara Trail) in West Sadsbury Township to the U.S. 30 (Coatesville-Downingtown Bypass) Interchange with U.S. 202 in East Whiteland Township, Chester County.

The work locations are:

• Westbound U.S. 30 (Coatesville-Downingtown Bypass) between Reeceville Road and Coatesville interchanges in Valley and Caln townships;
• Eastbound and westbound U.S. 30 (Coatesville-Downingtown Bypass) between the Airport Road Interchange and Compass Road in Valley and Sadsbury townships;
• Eastbound U.S. 30 (Coatesville-Downingtown Bypass) between Airport Road Interchange and Old Mill Road in Sadsbury Township; and
• Route 82 (Manor Road) between Route 340 (Kings Highway) and U.S. 30 (Coatesville-Downingtown Bypass) off-ramp in Valley Township.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent and subject to change.

Work on this project will be in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance as well as a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan, which will include protocols for social distancing, use of face coverings, personal and job-site cleaning protocols, management of entries to the jobsite, and relevant training.

The purpose of the project is to improve traffic operations in advance of the U.S. 30 reconstruction and improvements project that is expected to begin sometime in the mid-2020s.
ITS improvements to be installed include variable message signs, traffic cameras and travel time readers which will aid the department in monitoring the flow of traffic, mitigating congestion, and handling emergency response during future construction operations. The new ITS devices will be connected into PennDOT's fiber optic communications system and will be managed from the department's Regional Transportation Management Center (RTMC), located in the District 6-0 office in King of Prussia.

The entire project is expected to be completed in the spring of 2021.

Bruce & Merrilees Electric Company, of New Castle, PA, is the general contractor on the $5,892,298 project which is financed with 100 percent federal funds.

PennDOT Reopens Clay Creek Culvert in Franklin Township, Chester County

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) has reopened the structure carrying Clay Creek Road over White Clay Creek in Franklin Township, Chester County, following the completion of a replacement project.

Built in 1950, the structure was replaced with a new box culvert and carries an average of 1139 vehicles a day.

This work is part of seven structures in Bucks, Chester, and Montgomery counties that PennDOT is repairing or replacing under a $5 million project financed with 100 percent state funds.

Structures completed under this project include:

• Springton Road over Indian Run in Wallace Township, Chester County;
  West State Road over the west branch of Red Clay Creek in Kennett Township, Chester County; and
  2nd Avenue over Mingo Creek in Upper Providence Township, Montgomery County.

The other structures in this project include the following:

• Route 282 (Creek Road) over a branch of the Brandywine Creek in East Brandywine Township, Chester County;
  Baltimore Pike over Red Clay Creek in New Garden Township, Chester County; and
  Hulmeville Road over Chubb Run in Middletown Township and Penndel Borough, Bucks County.

Loftus Construction, Inc. of Cinnaminson, New Jersey, is the general contractor on this bridge improvement project.  Work on the entire project is expected to be completed in late summer 2022.

U.S. 1, Street Road (Route 132) Lane, Ramp Closures at Night Next Week for Construction in Bensalem Township

King of Prussia, PA – Nighttime lane restrictions and ramp closings will be in place on U.S. 1 and Street Road (Route 132) next week as the contractor sets-up a new traffic pattern on U.S. 1 and shifts construction operations to the southbound side by week's end to begin work on the final major stage (Stage 4) of the project to widen and improve U.S.1 and its interchanges in Bucks County, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today. 

The weather dependent work schedule and locations are:

• Monday, November 30, through Saturday, December 5, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, periodic single lane closures will be in place on northbound or southbound U.S. 1 between Rockhill Drive and Old Lincoln Highway; and
• Monday, November 30, through Saturday, December 5, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, periodic single lane closures will be in place on eastbound or westbound Street Road (Route 132) between Old Lincoln Highway and Kingston Way.

In addition, the southbound U.S. 1 ramps to eastbound, and to-and-from westbound Street Road (Route 132) will be closed beginning Tuesday night, December 1.

The ramps  from southbound U.S. 1 to eastbound and westbound Street Road (Route 132) will be detoured for approximately one month while a temporary ramp is constructed. Until the temporary ramp is constructed, southbound U.S. 1 traffic will be directed to turn right on Old Lincoln Highway back to Street Road (Route 132).

The ramp from westbound Street Road (Route 132) to southbound U.S. 1 will be closed for the duration of Stage 4 construction. Traffic normally using this ramp will continue west, then turn left on Old Lincoln Highway back to U.S. 1. 

For Stage 4, two lanes of southbound U.S. 1 traffic will be shifted to the rebuilt middle for reconstruction of the southbound roadway and construction of the southbound side of three new U.S. 1 bridges: over the Pennsylvania Turnpike, over the Turnpike ramps, and over Street Road (Route 132).

Motorists are reminded that Bristol Road remains closed to through traffic between Old Lincoln Highway and Neshaminy Boulevard until spring 2021 for replacement of the bridge over U.S.1. Replacement of the Bristol Road overpass during the current construction stage will accelerate the completion date for the entire RC1 Section by at least one year. The project is now scheduled to finish in mid-2022.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and slowdowns will occur.

Allan A. Myers, Inc. of Worcester, Montgomery County is the general contractor on the $95.1 million Section RC1 project which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds.

Section RC1 is the first of three construction contracts to rebuild and widen U.S. 1; replace aging bridges; and install safety enhancements along a four-mile section of the expressway from just north of Philadelphia to just north of Route 413 (Pine Street) in Middletown Township and Langhorne Borough.  For more information, visit www.us1bucks.com.

I-76 East to Close at Night Next Week for Viaduct Repairs in Philadelphia

King of Prussia, PA – Eastbound Interstate 76 will be reduced to one lane between 30th Street and South Street in Center City Philadelphia on Monday, November 30, through Friday, December 4, at 8:00 PM and then completely closed at 10:00 PM each night until 5:00 AM the following morning for overhead viaduct demolition and median barrier construction, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

During the eastbound closure, motorists will exit at 30th Street, go around 30th Street Station, turn left on Chestnut Street, then right on Schuylkill Avenue to the ramp to I-76 east at Walnut Street. Trucks, which may not turn right from Chestnut Street onto Schuylkill Avenue, will be directed to go west on Market Street, then left on 38th Street to University Avenue and the I-76 east ramp from 34th Street.

In addition, eastbound I-76 will be reduced to one lane periodically from 7:00 PM Saturday, December 5, to 5:00 AM Sunday, December 6, between 30th Street and University Avenue for median barrier construction.

Westbound I-76 remains reduced to one lane around-the-clock between University Avenue and 30th Street. The eastbound off-ramp and westbound on-ramp at South Street remain closed for construction of a new I-76 median barrier. Motorists normally using the closed South Street ramps will follow posted detour signs.

Drivers are advised to use alternate routes or allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because significant backups and delays will occur during all of the scheduled activities.  All work activities are weather dependent.

Work on this project will be in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance as well as a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan, which will include protocols for social distancing, use of face coverings, personal and job-site cleaning protocols, management of entries to the jobsite, special signing, and relevant training.

PennDOT is repairing, resurfacing and replacing the median barrier on the I-76 viaduct under a $40 million contract. More information is available at www.i76viaduct.com.

Repairs to the Schuylkill Avenue viaduct are part of PennDOT's $103.6 million project to rehabilitate the Chestnut Street bridge over the Schuylkill River and eight other nearby structures, including those carrying Schuylkill Avenue over I-76 between Walnut Street and Market Street. PECO to Restrict Several State Highways for Utility Improvements Across Philadelphia Region

​King of Prussia, PA – PECO Energy is planning lane closures on several state highways in Bucks, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties for utility improvements, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:

Bucks County

• Tuesday, December 1, through Wednesday, December 31, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, on Route 32 (River Road) between Ferry Road and Fleecy Dale Road in Plumstead Township.

Delaware County

• Weekdays beginning Monday, November 30, through Wednesday, December 23, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, on Route 3 (West Chester Pike) between St. Albans Road and Winding Way in Newtown Township.

Montgomery County

• Weekdays beginning Monday, November 30, through Wednesday, December 30, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, on Route 63 (Old Welsh Road) between Marian Road and Edge Hill Road in Abington Township.

Philadelphia

• Friday, November 27, through Thursday, December 31, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM and from 6:00 PM to 4:00 AM, on Route 3 (Walnut Street) between 38th Street and 40th Street.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

PECO Energy will complete these projects under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit.

PennDOT Announces Start of Construction to Replace Broad Street (Route 611) Bridge near Spring Garden Street in Philadelphia

​King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today announced that construction will begin on Monday, December 7, to replace the five-span Broad Street (Route 611) bridge that carries four lanes of traffic over loading docks and former railroad lines between Wood Street and Spring Garden Street in Philadelphia.

Beginning Monday, December 7, through Sunday, December 22, overnight lane closures are scheduled on Broad Street (Route 611) between Spring Garden Street and Vine Street.

The work schedule is:

• Sundays through Thursdays, from 10:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning; and
• Fridays and Saturdays, from 11:00 PM to 8:00 AM the following morning.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur. The schedule is weather dependent and subject to change.

Work on this project will be in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance as well as a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan, which will include protocols for social distancing, use of face coverings, personal and job-site cleaning protocols, management of entries to the jobsite, special signing, and relevant training.

The scope of work on this project includes replacement of the bridge superstructure and three steel piers. PennDOT's contractor will rehabilitate the remaining two stone piers and abutments to support the new bridge superstructure.

Loftus Construction, Inc., is the general contractor on the $12,880,000 project which is financed with 100 percent federal funds. The entire project is expected to finish in fall 2022.

I-95 Lane, Ramp Closures at Night Next Week for Construction in Philadelphia

King of Prussia, PA - Nighttime lane and ramp closures will be in place next week on Interstate 95 near Bridge Street, Penn's Landing and the Betsy Ross Bridge in Philadelphia for construction and soil boring, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation announced today.

Weather permitting, the locations and times are:

• Monday, November 30, through Friday, December 4, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, southbound right lane and shoulder closures will be in place for soil borings at the southern end of the Bridge Street Interchange. This work area is located just south of the three-lanes-in-each-direction traffic pattern that is currently in place for reconstruction between Bridge Street and Cottman Avenue;
• Monday, November 30, through Thursday, December 3, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, alternating northbound and southbound lane closures will be in place in the vicinity of Penn's Landing; and
• Thursday, December 3, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 the following morning, the northbound I-95 ramp to Aramingo Avenue at the Betsy Ross Bridge Interchange will close for demolition on the overhead ramp. Traffic normally using this ramp will be directed to exit at Bridge Street onto Aramingo Avenue.

Drivers are advised to remain alert for slowing traffic when approaching the work areas.

Demolition at the Betsy Ross Bridge Interchange is part of the $93.6 million BR2 project to reconstruct and improve the ramps between the bridge, Aramingo Avenue and I-95. The soil borings are part of advance engineering activities underway for upcoming reconstruction of I-95 at the Bridge Street Interchange and in the Penn's Landing area.

Eastbound U.S. 30 (West Girard Avenue) Lane Restrictions, Closure Scheduled for Bridge Replacement Project in Philadelphia

​King of Prussia, PA – Several restrictions are scheduled on eastbound U.S. 30 (West Girard Avenue) in Philadelphia, for bridge construction, as part of a project to replace the bridge that carries four lanes of traffic and the SEPTA Route 15 trolley over CSX railroad tracks between 34th and 38th streets in the Parkside neighborhood of Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The works schedule is:

• Lane closures are scheduled on eastbound U.S. 30 (West Girard Avenue) between 34th Street and 38th Street on Monday, November 30, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM;
• The ramp to Interstate 76 West (Schuylkill Expressway) from eastbound U.S. 30 (West Girard Avenue) is closed through Friday, December 18. During the 24-hour ramp closure, eastbound U.S. 30 (West Girard Avenue) motorists should utilize Belmont Avenue and the U.S. 1 (City Avenue) on-ramp to access I-76 West; and
• Eastbound U.S. 30 (West Girard Avenue) is scheduled to close between 34th Street and 38th Street, at 9:00 AM on Monday, December 7, through 4:00 PM on Saturday, December 12. During the 24-hour closure, eastbound U.S. 30 (West Girard Avenue) motorists will be detoured over Lancaster Avenue, Powelton Avenue, 33rd Street, Mantua Avenue and 34th Street. Old Wilmington Road Restricted Next Week for Resurfacing Operations in West Caln, Sadsbury Townships

King of Prussia, PA – Lane restrictions are scheduled next week on Old Wilmington Road between Route 340 (West Kings Highway) and Route 372 (Valley Road) in West Caln and Sadsbury townships in Chester County on Monday, November 30, through Friday, December 4, from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, for paving operations, as part of a project to repair and resurface 41 miles of state highway in Chester County, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Under this improvement project, PennDOT is milling the existing roadway surface and repaving the state highways with new asphalt. The new pavement will seal the roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.

Allan A. Myers, LP, of Worcester, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the $9,995,555 project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds from Act 89, Pennsylvania's Transportation Plan.

Work on this project will be in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance as well as a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan, which will include protocols for social distancing, use of face coverings, personal and job-site cleaning protocols, management of entries to the jobsite, special signage and relevant training.

I-95 Lane, Ramp Closures Planned Next Week for Construction in the City of Chester

King of Prussia, PA – Southbound Interstate 95 motorists will encounter a double lane closure and ramp closure next week in the City of Chester, Delaware County, for painting and shielding removal under a project to rehabilitate eight bridges over I-95 and CSX Railroad, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule and

• Monday, November 30, through Friday, December 4, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a double lane closure will be in place on southbound I-95 between the Interstate 476 and U.S. 322 interchanges;
• Monday, November 30, and Tuesday, December 1, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a lane closure will be in place on the ramp from southbound I-95 to Chestnut Street; and
• Wednesday, December 3, through Friday, December 4, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, the ramp from southbound I-95 to Chestnut Street will be closed and detoured. During construction, two separate detour routes will be posted for southbound I-95 travelers for north of I-476 and south of I-476.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling on I-95 through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent and subject to change.

Work on this project will be in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance as well as a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan, which will include protocols for social distancing, use of face coverings, personal and job-site cleaning protocols, management of entries to the jobsite, special signage and relevant training.

Under this improvement project, PennDOT is rehabilitating the multi-span, steel girder bridges on Potter Street, Madison Street, Upland Street, Melrose Avenue, Chestnut Street, Edgmont Avenue, and the Crosby Street and Walnut Street pedestrian structures. The contractor is also improving the I-95 south exit ramp at Chestnut Street.

In addition to the bridge and ramp improvements, PennDOT's contractor is repairing Chestnut Street and Morton Avenue from 12th Street to 4th Street; reconstructing curbs and sidewalks; milling and resurfacing the streets; installing a new traffic signal at Chestnut Street and Morton Avenue; upgrading the traffic signal at Morton Avenue and 7th Street; and reconstructing Morton Avenue from 7th Street to 4th Street to lower the road under the Amtrak overpass to increase vertical clearance.   

South State, Inc. of Bridgeton, N.J. is the general contractor on this project which is financed with 100 percent state funds.

King of Prussia, PA – Interstate 95 motorists will encounter single and double lane closures in both directions next week at various locations between the Interstate 476 Interchange and the Delaware state line for various construction activities under a project to rehabilitate pavement and repair 15 structures on more than 11 miles of the interstate in Lower Chichester, Upper Chichester, Chester, Ridley and Tinicum townships, the City of Chester and Upland and Ridley boroughs, Delaware County, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:

• Monday, November 30, from 8:00 PM to 9:00 PM and 5:00 AM to 6:00 AM; a single lane closure will be in place on northbound and/or southbound I-95;
• Monday, November 30, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a double lane closure will be in place on northbound and/or southbound I-95;
• Tuesday, December 1, and Wednesday, December 2, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM and 5:00 AM to 6:00 AM; a single lane closure will be in place on northbound and/or southbound I-95;
• Tuesday, December 1, and Wednesday, December 2, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a double lane closure will be in place on northbound and/or southbound I-95;
• Thursday, December 3, and Friday, December 4, from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM, a single lane closure will be in place on northbound and/or southbound I-95; and
• Thursday, December 3, and Friday, December 4, from 9:00 PM to 7:00 AM the following morning, a double lane closure will be in place on northbound and/or southbound I-95.

I-95 motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because significant backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Work on this project will be in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance as well as a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan, which will include protocols for social distancing, use of face coverings, personal and job-site cleaning protocols, management of entries to the jobsite, special signage and relevant training.

Under this project, PennDOT's contractor will mill, overlay and rehabilitate the existing concrete pavement including 41 ramps; perform minor structural repairs to 15 of the 33 bridges located in the project limits; repair sections of median barrier; upgrade guide rail; install new pavement markings, delineators and rumble strips; repair and clean existing inlets and pipes; and replace damaged or missing traffic signs. The Pennsylvania Welcome Center just north of the Delaware state line also will be improved with concrete base repairs and new parking stripes, pavement markings and signs.

I-95 Lane Closures Monday Night for Barrier Installation in Delaware County

King of Prussia, PA – Interstate 95 motorists will encounter a single lane closure in both directions between the Naaman's Creek Road and Chichester Avenue interchanges in Lower Chichester and Upper Chichester townships, Delaware County, on Monday, November 23, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, for barrier installation ahead of repair work on the bridge that carries Blueball Avenue over the interstate, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling through the work areas because backups and slowdowns will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The barrier work and bridge repair are part of a project to perform high-priority repairs on 13 structures on I-95, Interstate 295 and Interstate 476 in Philadelphia, Bucks and Delaware counties. Under this contract, PennDOT's contractor will make structural repairs to the following bridges:

Philadelphia

• I-95 over Broad Street (Route 611), Ramp A and Terminal Avenue;
• I-95 over Terminal Avenue;
• I-95 over CSX Railroad;I-95 over Pattison Avenue;
• I-95 over Oregon Avenue and Shunk Street;
• I-95 over Shunk Street to Mifflin Street;
• I-95 over Mifflin Street to Christian Street; and
• Market Street over I-95, Columbus Boulevard.

Bucks County

• I-295 over the Pennsylvania Turnpike (Northbound) in Bristol Township;
• I-295 over the Pennsylvania Turnpike (Southbound) in Bristol Township; and
• Trenton Road over I-295 in Middletown Township.

Delaware County

• Blue Ball Avenue over I-95 in Upper Chichester Township; and
• I-476 Ramp over I-95, CSX & Crum Creek in Ridley Township.

Repairs to these 13 structures includes replacing rocker bearings, frozen sliding plate bearings and deck expansion joints; cleaning and painting steel beams; repairing substructure concrete; and reconstructing bearing pedestals.

In addition, the project includes the replacement of 24 high mast light poles along the I-95 corridor in Philadelphia and Delaware counties.

Work on this project will be in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance as well as a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan, which will include protocols for social distancing, use of face coverings, personal and job-site cleaning protocols, management of entries to the jobsite, special signing, and relevant training.

King of Prussia, PA - Nighttime lane closures will be in place on Interstate 95 near Penn's Landing and Bridge Street in Philadelphia next week for soil boring operations related to upcoming reconstruction projects, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

Weather permitting, the locations and times are:

• Sunday, November 22, through Tuesday, November 24, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, alternating northbound and southbound right lane and shoulder closures will be in place in the vicinity of Penn's Landing; and
• Monday, November 23, and Tuesday, November 24, northbound right lane closures will be in place at the southern end of the Bridge Street Interchange. This work area is located just south of the three-lanes-in-each-direction traffic pattern that is currently in place for reconstruction between Bridge Street and Cottman Avenue.

Drivers are advised to remain alert for slowing traffic when approaching the soil boring locations.

All work will be in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance as well as a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan, which will include protocols for social distancing, use of face coverings, personal and job-site cleaning protocols, management of entries to the jobsite, special signage and relevant training.

​King of Prussia, PA – PECO Energy is planning weekday lane closures on Route 23 (Conshohocken State Road) between Spring Mill Road and Arrowmink Road in Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County, on Monday, November 23, through Friday, December 18, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, for utility work, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur. The schedule is weather dependent.

PECO Energy will complete this project under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit.

U.S. 322 Daytime Lane Closures Monday, Tuesday for Soil Boring in Upper Chichester Township

King of Prussia, PA — Alternating eastbound or westbound lane closures will be in place on U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway) between the Interstate 95 and Route 452/Market Street interchanges in Upper Chichester Township, Delaware County, on Monday, November 23, and Tuesday, November 24, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM for soil boring activities, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The soil borings are part of the design engineering activities underway for the upcoming U.S. 322 Section CSX project to replace the bridge over Bethel Avenue and CSX railroad and improve the adjacent interchange. Section CSX, which is scheduled to be under construction in late 2021, is one of four separate contracts that make up PennDOT's U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway) improvement project.

This operation will proceed in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance as well as a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan, which will include protocols for social distancing, use of face coverings, personal and job-site cleaning protocols, management of entries to the jobsite, special signage and relevant training.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time for travel through the work area or to use an alternate route as backups may occur on U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike), U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway), and on the ramps from I-95 to westbound U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway).

U.S. 1, Street Road (Route 132) Lane Closures Early Next Week for Construction in Bensalem Township

King of Prussia, PA – Daytime and nighttime lane restrictions will be in place on U.S. 1 and Street Road (Route 132) early next week as the contractor completes bridge and roadway construction in the center of U.S. 1 and prepares to shift operations to the southbound side in early December, the final major stage (Stage 4) on a project to widen and improve U.S.1 and its interchanges in Bucks County, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today. 

The weather dependent work schedule and locations are:

• Sunday, November 22, and Monday, November 23, from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM and from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, periodic single lane closures will be in place on northbound or southbound U.S. 1 between Rockhill Drive and Old Lincoln Highway; and
• Sunday, November 22, and Monday, November 23, from 6:00 AM to 3:00 PM and from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, periodic single lane closures will be in place on eastbound or westbound Street Road (Route 132) between Old Lincoln Highway and Kingston Way.

During Stage 4, two lanes of southbound U.S. 1 traffic will be shifted to the rebuilt middle section for reconstruction of the southbound roadway and construction of the southbound side of three new U.S. 1 bridges over the Pennsylvania Turnpike, Turnpike ramps and over Street Road (Route 132).

During the switch to Stage 4, the existing ramps from southbound U.S. 1 to eastbound and westbound Street Road (Route 132) will be closed and detoured for approximately one month while a temporary ramp is constructed. The temporary ramp will take southbound U.S. 1 traffic to a signalized intersection for access to eastbound or westbound Street Road (Route 132). Until the temporary ramp is constructed,  southbound U.S. 1 traffic will be directed to turn right on Old Lincoln Highway back to Street Road (Route 132).

The ramp from westbound Street Road (Route 132) to southbound U.S. 1 will be closed for the duration of Stage 4 construction. Traffic normally using this ramp will continue west, then turn left on Old Lincoln Highway back to U.S. 1. 

Motorists are reminded that Bristol Road remains closed to through traffic between Old Lincoln Highway and Neshaminy Boulevard until spring 2021 for replacement of the bridge over U.S.1. Replacement of the Bristol Road overpass during the current construction stage will accelerate the completion date for the entire RC1 Section by at least one year. The project is now scheduled to finish in mid-2022.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and slowdowns will occur.

Allan A. Myers, Inc. of Worcester, Montgomery County is the general contractor on the $95.1 million Section RC1 project which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds.

Section RC1 is the first of three construction contracts to rebuild and widen U.S. 1; replace aging bridges; and install safety enhancements along a four-mile section of the expressway from just north of Philadelphia to just north of Route 413 (Pine Street) in Middletown Township and Langhorne Borough.  For more information, visit www.us1bucks.com.

​King of Prussia, PA – Aqua Pennsylvania is planning to close Cedar Grove Road weekdays between Route 320 (Sproul Road) and Parke Lane in Marple Township, Delaware Township, on Wednesday, December 2, through January, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, for water main installation, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

During the weekday closure, Cedar Grove Road motorists will be detoured over Route 320 (Sproul Road), Paxon Hollow Road, Palmers Mill Road and Route 252 (Newtown Street Road).
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. The schedule is weather dependent.

I-95 Lane Closures Tuesday Night for Barrier Installation in Delaware County

King of Prussia, PA – Interstate 95 motorists will encounter a single lane closure in both directions between the Naaman's Creek Road and Chichester Avenue interchanges in Lower Chichester and Upper Chichester townships, Delaware County, for barrier installation, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

Motorists are advised to use caution when traveling through the work areas because backups and slowdowns will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The barrier work is part of a project to perform high-priority repairs on 13 structures on I-95, Interstate 295 and Interstate 476 in Philadelphia, Bucks and Delaware counties. Under this contract, PennDOT's contractor will make structural repairs to the following bridges:

Philadelphia

• I-95 over Broad Street (Route 611), Ramp A and Terminal Avenue;
• I-95 over Terminal Avenue;
• I-95 over CSX Railroad;
• I-95 over Pattison Avenue;
• I-95 over Oregon Avenue and Shunk Street;
• I-95 over Shunk Street to Mifflin Street;
• I-95 over Mifflin Street to Christian Street; and
• Market Street over I-95, Columbus Boulevard.

Bucks County

• I-295 over the Pennsylvania Turnpike (Northbound) in Bristol Township;
• I-295 over the Pennsylvania Turnpike (Southbound) in Bristol Township; and
• Trenton Road over I-295 in Middletown Township.

Delaware County

• Blue Ball Avenue over I-95 in Upper Chichester Township; and
• I-476 Ramp over I-95, CSX & Crum Creek in Ridley Township.

Repairs to these 13 structures includes replacing rocker bearings, frozen sliding plate bearings and deck expansion joints; cleaning and painting steel beams; repairing substructure concrete; and reconstructing bearing pedestals.

In addition, the project includes the replacement of 24 high mast light poles along the I-95 corridor in Philadelphia and Delaware counties.

Work on this project will be in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance as well as a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan, which will include protocols for social distancing, use of face coverings, personal and job-site cleaning protocols, management of entries to the jobsite, special signing, and relevant training.

Driscoll Construction Company, Inc. of Philadelphia is the general contractor on the $33.9 million project which is financed with 100 percent federal funds. Construction is expected to finish in late 2023.

U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) Lane Closures Monday, Tuesday Nights for Viaduct Rehabilitation in Philadelphia

King of Prussia, PA – Nighttime lane closures will be in place periodically early next week on U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) in both directions for construction on the Wayne Junction Viaduct over SEPTA tracks and the Nicetown neighborhood in North Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule, which is weather dependent, is: 

• Monday, November 23, and Tuesday, November 24, periodically from 6:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) will be reduced to a single lane between the 16th Street and Fox Street overpasses; and
• Monday, November 23, and Tuesday, November 24, periodically from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, northbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) will be reduced to a single lane between the Fox Street and 16th Street overpasses.

Traffic in either direction also may be slowed periodically for construction activities in the work area during the overnight hours.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling on U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Expressway) through the work area because slowdowns and backups will occur. 

The contractor is currently removing the existing concrete pavement and will begin rehabilitating the structural components before placing new concrete pavement on the viaduct's southbound left lane under Stage 2 of the project.

The Stage 2 traffic pattern, which will remain in place until spring 2021, splits southbound traffic through the half-mile long work zone by placing one lane of southbound traffic on the rehabilitated median, with a second southbound lane remaining in the outside lane. Two lanes of northbound traffic remain on the northbound side.

Work on this project will be in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance as well as a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan, which will include protocols for social distancing, use of face coverings, personal and job-site cleaning protocols, management of entries to the jobsite, special signing, and relevant training.
