King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that core boring operations will take place next week on U.S. 1 as part of advance engineering activities for upcoming improvements to U.S. 1 in Middletown Township and Langhorne and Langhorne Manor boroughs, Bucks County.

The core borings are being done under the third phase (Section RC3) of the U.S. 1 Improvement Program to reconstruct the highway between Penndel/Business U.S. 1 and Corn Crib Lane. Section RC3 is currently in preliminary engineering with construction bids tentatively expected to open in late 2026.
PennDOT is reconstructing and widening almost three miles of U.S. 1, improving the interchanges, and constructing several new bridges — including new structures over the Neshaminy Creek and over rail lines near the Penndel exit— under the first two contracts (RC1, RC2) to rebuild, widen and improve U.S. 1 in Bucks County.
Section RC1 improvements between Old Lincoln Highway and the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Bensalem Township were completed in early December. Section RC2 improvements from the Turnpike to north of the Penndel/Business U.S. 1 Interchange in Middletown Township are under construction through late 2026.

Bridge Construction Scheduled on Girard Avenue (U.S. 30) Near Philadelphia Zoo
King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that bridge construction is scheduled to continue next week on Girard Avenue (U.S. 30) near the Philadelphia Zoo under a project to replace the structure that carries four lanes of traffic and the SEPTA Route 15 trolley over CSX railroad tracks in the Parkside neighborhood of Philadelphia.

Bridge Construction Planned Next Week on Route 372 (Lower Valley Road) in Atglen Borough, West Sadsbury Township
King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that bridge construction is planned next week on Route 372 (Lower Valley Road) under a $3 million project to replace the structure that carries the highway over Officers Run in Atglen Borough and West Sadsbury Township, Chester County.

The purpose of this project is to provide a long-term transportation facility that is structurally sound, capable of handling the volume of expected traffic along this state highway and to ensure a safe and efficient crossing along a locally important network.
Originally built in 1937, the existing two-span reinforced concrete slab bridge is listed in poor condition, showing extensive cracking and other damage. The new Route 372 (Lower Valley Road) structure will be a single-span prestressed concrete composite adjacent box beam bridge which includes approach roadway construction.
This project also includes the realignment and restriping of the Route 41 (Gap Newport Pike) painted median and replacement of the traffic signal at the Route 372 (Lower Valley Road) and Route 41 (Gap Newport Pike) intersection. Other project improvements include pipe culvert installation, aerial and underground gas utility relocations and wetland enhancements.
Mumford and Miller Concrete, Inc., of Middletown, Delaware is the general contractor on the project, which is financed with 100% federal funds.

PennDOT Reopens Markley Street/Main Street Intersection Following Reconstruction in Norristown
King of Prussia, PA -- The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that the Markley Street (U.S. 202 South) and Main Street Intersection in Norristown, Montgomery County has reopened to traffic. The intersection had been closed since Friday, December 2 for reconstruction under the ongoing Markley Street (U.S. 202 South) Improvement Project.
PennDOT's contractor rebuilt the intersection by removing the existing pavement and applying precast concrete slabs. New stormwater facilities were also installed to improve drainage.
Reconstruction of the southbound side of Markley Street (U.S. 202 South) is currently underway and expected to be completed in spring 2023. Construction on the entire improvement project is expected to finish in late 2023.

Once the operations are completed, PennDOT's contractor will shift northbound and southbound Route 309 (Sellersville Bypass) traffic to the outer lanes to begin work on the left lanes.
Periodic weekday lane closures will also remain in place through early 2023 on northbound and/or southbound Route 309 (Sellersville Bypass) from Route 152 (State Road) to just north of Reliance Road for the rehabilitation of two bridges.

Route 309 Connector Construction to Close Township Line Road Beginning January 3 in Franconia, Hatfield Townships
King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that roadway construction will close a section of Township Line Road for one year beginning Tuesday, January 3, as part of the Route 309 Connector Project to build a new roadway alignment to connect Wambold Road from Allentown Road to the Hatfield/Souderton Pike intersection in Franconia and Hatfield townships, Montgomery County.

Construction on this project began in January 2022 with clearing, erosion and sedimentary control operations and construction of a temporary access road.

Roadway Improvements Continue Next Week on U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) in Delaware County
King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that various construction operations will take place next week on U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) under a $14.8 million project to repair and resurface approximately six miles of the highway in Chadds Ford and Concord townships, Delaware County, and Pennsbury Township, Chester County.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur due to these operations. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
Under this project, PennDOT's contractor will mill, overlay, and rehabilitate the existing pavement; perform concrete patching and concrete base repair as needed; construct new concrete curbed median; install new pavement markings, rumble strips, delineators, and signs; and upgrade guiderail and curb ramps.
Allan Myers, LP of Worcester, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the project, which is financed with 80% federal and 20% state funds.

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that various roadway and bridge construction activities will continue next week on Interstate 95 in Delaware County and the I-95 Girard Point Bridge in Philadelphia under two separate improvement projects.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:
During the overnight paving repair and inlet cleaning operations, the ramps from northbound and southbound I-95 to Ridley Park (Exit 8) and Route 420 (Exit 9A/9B) will be closed and detoured. I-95 motorists will be directed to follow the posted detour routes.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because significant backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The paving repair and inlet cleaning operations are part of a $73 million project to rehabilitate pavement and repair 15 structures on more than 11 miles of I-95 in Lower Chichester, Upper Chichester, Chester, Ridley and Tinicum townships, the City of Chester and Upland and Ridley Park boroughs.
The bridge joint replacement is part of a $44.5 million project to perform high-priority repairs on 13 structures on I-95, I-476 and I-295 in Philadelphia, Delaware and Bucks counties.

Bridge Construction Scheduled on Girard Avenue (U.S. 30) Near Philadelphia Zoo
King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that bridge construction is scheduled to continue next week on Girard Avenue (U.S. 30) near the Philadelphia Zoo under a project to replace the structure that carries four lanes of traffic and the SEPTA Route 15 trolley over CSX railroad tracks in the Parkside neighborhood of Philadelphia.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:
Monday, December 12, through Friday, December 16, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a single lane closure is planned on eastbound Girard Avenue (U.S. 30) between 38th Street and 34th; and
Thursday, December 15, and Friday, December 16, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a single lane closure is planned on westbound Girard Avenue (U.S. 30) between 34th Street and 38th Street.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because significant backups and delays are expected. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The scope of work on this project includes replacement of the bridge superstructure, rehabilitation of the stone support abutments and construction of a dedicated right turn lane on the eastbound Interstate 76 ramp to Girard Avenue (U.S. 30). The SEPTA trolley tracks will also be replaced across the bridge.
Neshaminy Constructors Inc. is the general contractor on the $4.29 million project, which is financed with 80% federal and 20% state funds. The entire project is expected to finish late this year.

Bridge Construction, Core Borings Planned at Night Next Week on U.S. 1 Improvement Project in Bucks County
King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction will begin next week to replace the new southbound U.S. 1 bridge over rail lines and the Penndel/Business U.S. 1 Interchange following the shift of southbound traffic onto the newly constructed northbound structure in Bensalem and Middletown townships, Bucks County.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:
Monday, December 12, through Thursday, December 15, from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, intermittent lane closures will take place in both directions on U.S. 1 between Rockhill Drive and Route 413 (Pine Street) to set up the new traffic pattern to shift southbound traffic onto the new northbound bridge over the CSX and SEPTA train tracks by the end of the week; and
Sunday, December 11, through Wednesday, December 14, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, alternating lane closures will be in place in both directions on U.S. 1 between Old Lincoln Highway and Parkvale Avenue for core borings.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The bridge work is part of the Section RC2 improvements under construction from the Pennsylvania Turnpike to north of the Penndel/Business U.S. 1 Interchange in Middletown Township through late 2026.
The core borings are being done for Section RC3, the final phase of PennDOT's three-phase U.S. 1 Improvement Project that is improving four miles of the highway in Bucks County by reconstructing and widening pavement, replacing bridges, and improving the interchanges.
Section RC3, which will improve the U.S. 1 corridor from the Penndel/Business U.S. 1 Interchange to north of Route 413 (Pine Street), is currently in preliminary engineering with construction bids tentatively expected to be opened in late 2026.
Section RC1 improvements between Old Lincoln Highway and the Pennsylvania Turnpike in Bensalem Township were completed this fall.
