I-476 Daytime Lane Closure Next Week for Pavement Repair in Radnor, Marple Townships

King of Prussia, PA – Northbound and southbound Interstate 476 motorists will encounter a periodic lane closure in various locations from just north of the U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue) Interchange and the U.S. 1 (Media Bypass) Interchange in Radnor and Marple townships, Delaware County, on Monday, March 8, through Friday, March 12, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, for pavement repair, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

I-476 motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because significant backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Work on this operation will be in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance as well as a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan, which will include protocols for social distancing, use of face coverings, personal and job-site cleaning protocols, management of entries to the jobsite, special signage and relevant training.

King of Prussia, PA – Hatfield Township is planning a weekday lane closure with flagging on Route 463 (Cowpath Road) between Orvilla Road and Cindy Lane in Hatfield Township, Montgomery County, on Monday, March 8, through Friday, March 19, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, for sidewalk installation, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today. 

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur. The schedule is weather dependent.

Hatfield Township will complete this project under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit.

Southbound Broad Street (Route 611) Ramp to I-95 South to Close Friday Night for Several Months for Bridge Repair in Philadelphia

King of Prussia, PA – The ramp from southbound Broad Street (Route 611) to southbound Interstate 95 in Philadelphia will be closed and detoured beginning at 7:00 PM Friday, March 5, through the end of July, for bridge repair under a project to perform high-priority repairs on 13 structures on I-95, Interstate 295 and Interstate 476 in Philadelphia, Bucks and Delaware counties, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

During the 24/7 ramp closure, motorists will be directed to use Pattison Avenue and Route 291 (Penrose Avenue) to access southbound I-95.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Repairs to the 13 structures under this project include replacing rocker bearings, frozen sliding plate bearings and deck expansion joints; cleaning and painting steel beams; repairing substructure concrete; and reconstructing bearing pedestals.

In addition, the project includes the replacement of 24 high mast light poles along the I-95 corridor in Philadelphia and Delaware counties.

Work on this project will be in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance as well as a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan, which will include protocols for social distancing, use of face coverings, personal and job-site cleaning protocols, management of entries to the jobsite, special signing, and relevant training.

Driscoll Construction Company, Inc. of Philadelphia is the general contractor on the $33.9 million project, which is financed with 100 percent federal funds. Construction is expected to finish in late 2023.

I-76 Reduced to One Lane Each Direction This Weekend, Westbound I-76 Closed at Night Next Week for Construction in Philadelphia

King of Prussia, PA – Eastbound and westbound Interstate 76 will be reduced to one lane between University Avenue and Interstate 676 in Philadelphia, from 7:00 PM Friday, March 5, to 5:00 AM Monday, March 8, for installation of impact attenuators, median barrier repairs and pavement profiling, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

On and off-ramps at South Street, the westbound off-ramps at 30th Street and I-676, and westbound on-ramps at University Avenue and Vare Avenue also will be closed during this weekend's scheduled activities. Motorists heading for those exits will follow posted detours.

Eastbound and westbound I-76 lane closures between University Avenue and I-676 and the closure of on-and off-ramps at South Street previously scheduled for 7:00 PM Thursday, March 4, to 5:00 AM Friday, March 5, for pavement profiling have been canceled. The pavement profiling will be done during this weekend's scheduled lane restrictions.

In addition, on Monday, March 8, through Friday, March 12, westbound I-76 will be closed between South Street and I-676 periodically from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning for overhead viaduct repair. The westbound off-ramp to 30th Street also will be closed periodically.

When westbound I-76 is closed at 30th Street, traffic will exit at 30th Street and follow Schuylkill Avenue to the ramp to I-76 west at Market Street. When the westbound 30th Street off-ramp is closed, westbound I-76 motorists heading to 30th Street will be detoured west on I-76 to I-676 east, exit at 23rd Street, turn left on 22nd Street, then left on the ramp to I-676 west and take I-76 east to the ramp to 30th Street.

Work on this project will be in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance as well as a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan, which will include protocols for social distancing, use of face coverings, personal and job-site cleaning protocols, management of entries to the jobsite, special signing, and relevant training.

PennDOT is repairing, resurfacing, and replacing the median barrier on the I-76 viaduct under a $40 million contract. More information is available at www.i76viaduct.com.

Repairs to the overhead viaduct are part of PennDOT's $103.6 million project to rehabilitate the Chestnut Street bridge over the Schuylkill River — which is closed until late 2021 — and eight other nearby structures, including those carrying Schuylkill Avenue over I-76 between Walnut Street and Market Street. The lane closure will be in place weekdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM through late December. 

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

King of Prussia, PA – PECO Energy is planning a lane closure and full closure on Susquehanna Road between Route 611 (Old York Road) and Rydal Road/Valley Road in Abington Township, Montgomery County, for gas main installation, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is: 

• Monday, March 8, through Friday, March 12, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a lane closure with flagging is scheduled on Susquehanna Road; and 
• Monday, March 15, through the end of April, Susquehanna Road is scheduled to close. During the 24/7 closure, motorists will be directed to use Route 611 (Old York Road), The Fairway and Rydal Road. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone.

King of Prussia, PA – PECO Energy is planning to close Manoa Road between Farwood Road and Rock Glen Road in Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County, and Haverford Township, Delaware County, beginning Monday, March 8, for utility construction, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today. The closure will be in place weekdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM through the end of May.

During the closure, motorists will be directed to use Earlington Road, U.S. 1 (Township Line Road) and Haverford Road. Local access will be maintained up to the work zone.
