Please avoid the intersection of Bethlehem Pike, Sumneytown Pike and Norristown Road in Spring House. The signal lines were severed during curb excavation. This has caused the signal to flash red and is causing traffic delays and back-ups in the area.  We are working to fix the situation as soon as possible.

ReadyMontco - Upper Merion Twp Alert

PennDOT announced that Flint Hill Road is closed between Church Road and Hertzog Boulevard in Upper Merion Township due to a sinkhole.

During the closure, Flint Hill Road motorists are directed to use Church Road, Feheley Drive, and Hertzog Boulevard.

Flint Hill Road will remain closed until PennDOT engineers can further assess the extent of the damage and develop a plan to repair and safely reopen the highway.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because slowdowns will occur.

"Are you in need of free smoke alarms?"

In conjunction with the American Red Cross Sound the Alarm National Campaign, the Upper Merion Township Fire and EMS Department will be walking door to door installing free smoke alarms in residents' homes this Saturday, July 13, 2024, between 8:30AM and 12:00PM.

This event includes homes on Susan Drive, Jean Drive, Patricia Drive, West Beidler Road (between Abrams Mill Rd to Jasper Rd), Abrams Road, Petty Lane, Jasper Road, Bernard Drive, Roberts Drive, Edwards Drive, and George Drive.

If you cannot be home this Saturday and would like the Department to install smoke alarms in your home, kindly call our Smoke Alarm Hotline at 484-636-3945 to schedule an appointment. A member will contact you once the call is received to schedule an installation date and time.

PennDOT announced the PA Turnpike Commission has scheduled bridge beam installation on U.S. 422 and N. Gulph Road in Upper Merion Township with the following travel restrictions:

Wednesday, July 17, through Friday, July 19, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a left lane closure with periodic traffic paces is scheduled on eastbound U.S. 422 between 1st Avenue and U.S. 202.

Wednesday, July 17, through Friday, July 19, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, a left lane closure is scheduled on westbound U.S. 422 between 1st Avenue and U.S. 202.

Monday, July 22, through Tuesday, July 23, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, a left lane closure is scheduled on westbound U.S. 422 between 1st Avenue and U.S. 202.

Monday, July 22, through Tuesday, July 23, from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, N. Gulph Road will be restricted with flagging in both directions to a single lane southbound between 1st Avenue and U.S. 202.

Wednesday, July 24, through Friday, July 26, from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, periodic traffic paces with flagging are scheduled on N. Gulph Road in both directions between 1st Avenue and U.S. 202.

Motorists should use caution and be prepared for slow or stopped traffic approaching the work areas. The schedule is weather dependent.
