I-95 Work Thursday Night to Open Fourth Northbound Lane at Cottman Avenue Interchange On-Ramp

I-95 Work Thursday Night to Open Fourth Northbound Lane at Cottman Avenue
Interchange On-Ramp

5/12/2016-KING OF PRUSSIA

Lane and ramp restrictions will be in place tonight on Interstate 95 north
at
the Cottman Avenue (Route 73) Interchange in Philadelphia to allow crews to

open a fourth lane north of the interchange by Friday morning, May 13,
easing
congestion through the work zone, the Pennsylvania Department of
Transportation
(PennDOT) announced today.

This operation is associated with the $212.3 million project to rebuild the

I-95/Cottman Avenue (Route 73) Interchange and reconstruct and widen 1.4
miles
of I-95 adjoining the interchange.

Following tonight's operation, motorists entering I-95 north from the
Princeton
Avenue on-ramp and the Milnor Street on-ramp will have their own lane to
continue north on I-95 and they will no longer have to merge quickly with
mainline traffic. The fourth northbound lane on I-95 continues up to the
Academy Road Interchange.

I-95 north will be reduced from three lanes to two and the northbound
on-ramps
from Princeton Avenue and Milnor Street to I-95 north at the interchange
will
be closed from 8:00 PM tonight to 5:00 AM Friday, May 13, to allow crews to

move construction barriers and complete other preparations for opening the
fourth lane.

Motorists normally using the northbound on-ramps will be detoured north on
State Road, then left on Linden Avenue, then right onto the ramp to I-95
north
at the Academy Road Interchange.

The scheduled work is weather dependent.

PennDOT is currently widening and reconstructing the northbound lanes of
I-95
from the Levick Street overpass, near the Bridge Street exit, to Bleigh
Avenue,
at the Cottman Avenue exit, under this improvement project.
