Repair and Resurface Stenton Avenue in Philadelphia

6/30/2016-KING OF PRUSSIA

Construction will begin Tuesday night, July 5, to repair and resurface 1.5
miles of Stenton Avenue in Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Department of
Transportation (PennDOT) today announced.

PennDOT will improve travel on Stenton Avenue between Paper Mill Road and
Wister Street by milling off the deteriorated pavement and resurfacing the
state road with asphalt. The new asphalt pavement will extend the life of
the
roadway and provide motorists with a smoother ride.

Construction crews will work weeknights to adjust utilities manholes; mill
off
the old riding surface; repair the roadway base; and repave the road. This
operation, which is expected to take three weeks to complete, will result
in
weeknight lane closures from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM. Motorists are advised to
allow
additional time for travel during overnight construction.

The resurfacing of Stenton Avenue is part of a $2,120,756 contract that
also
included the resurfacing of South Broad Street (Route 611) between Oregon
Avenue and the Navy Yard. The South Broad Street resurfacing was completed
in
May 2016.

James J. Anderson Construction Company, Inc. of Philadelphia is the general

contractor on the project that is financed with 100 percent state funds.
