Travel Restrictions in Philadelphia for Bridge Inspections

Travel restrictions are scheduled in Philadelphia next week for bridge
inspections, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today
announced.
Weather permitting, the work schedule is:
• On Wednesday, June 15, through Friday, June 17, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM,
the
right lane will be closed on the eastbound George C. Platt Memorial Bridge
(Route 291) between Bartram Avenue and 26th Street;
• On Friday, June 17, from 7:00 AM to 9:00, one lane will be closed on
Martin
Luther King, Jr. Drive between Sweet Briar Road and Spring Garden Street;
and
• On Saturday, June 18, from 8:00 AM to 12:00 PM, the right lane will be
closed
on Interstate 95 south between Broad Street (Route 611) and Route 291
(Penrose
Avenue). The left lane will be closed from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
The inspections are part of PennDOT's program to inspect bridges at least
once
every two years. The inspections ensure the safety and overall condition of
the
structures.
Motorists can check conditions on more than 40,000 roadway miles by
visiting
www.511PA.com. 511PA, which is free and available 24 hours a day, provides
traffic delay warnings, weather forecasts, traffic speed information and
access
to more than 770 traffic cameras.
