U.S. 422 Night Lane Closures Next Two Weeks in Valley Forge Area

6/3/2016-KING OF PRUSSIA

Motorists traveling on U.S. 422 will encounter overnight lane closures the
next
two weeks between the Route 363 (Trooper Road) and First Avenue
interchanges in
Montgomery and Chester counties, respectively, the Pennsylvania Department
of
Transportation (PennDOT) said today.

This work is part of the $97.4 million project to build new, wider bridges
to
improve travel and carry U.S. 422 motorists over the Schuylkill River,
Norfolk
Southern Railroad, South Trooper Road and Schuylkill River Trail in West
Norriton, Upper Merion and Lower Providence townships. The project includes

improving U.S. 422 between the Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) and Route 363
(Trooper Road) interchanges; upgrading Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) at its
interchange with U.S. 422; and improving ramps at the Route 363 (Trooper
Road),
Route 23 (Valley Forge Road) and First Avenue interchanges. Construction
began
in February 2016 and is scheduled to finish in May 2020.

U.S. 422 will be reduced from two lanes to one in both directions between
Route
363 (Trooper Road) and First Avenue on Sunday, June 5, through Thursday,
June
9, for drainage installation in the median. The lane closure on U.S. 422
east
will be in place each night from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning.
The
westbound lane closure will occur from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following
morning. Overnight lane closures on U.S. 422 also are scheduled on Sunday,
June
12, through Thursday, June 16.

The contractor's work schedule is dependent on the weather.

J.D. Eckman, Inc. of Atglen, Chester County, is the general contractor on
the
$97,380,711 contract. The project is financed with 80 percent federal and
20
percent state funds.
