Lane Closure Scheduled Wednesday on Westbound U.S. 422 for Shoulder Repair
in Lower Pottsgrove Township

The right lane is scheduled to close on westbound U.S. 422 between the
Sanatoga
and Armand Hammer interchanges in Lower Pottsgrove Township, Montgomery
County,
on Wednesday, April 5, from 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, for shoulder repair, the
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work
area.
The contractor's schedule is dependent on the weather.

The operation is part of PennDOT's $73.3 million project to rebuild 1.6
miles
of U.S. 422 between the Sanatoga and Route 724 (Schuylkill Road)
interchanges,
and construct new bridges over the Schuylkill River and Norfolk Southern
railroad tracks. Construction on the entire project is scheduled to finish
in
October 2018.

Under this project, PennDOT's contractor is building, in phases, new U.S.
422
structures over the Schuylkill River; new U.S. 422 structures over Norfolk
Southern railroad tracks; rebuilding U.S. 422 from the Schuylkill River
bridge
to the Porter Road overpass; installing new median barriers; replacing the
Armand Hammer Boulevard bridge over U.S. 422; improving and realigning
ramps at
the U.S. 422/Armand Hammer Boulevard Interchange; reconstructing and
realigning
the ramp from Route 724 to U.S. 422 east; improving storm water drainage;
erecting three overhead sign structures; installing conduit for future
Intelligent Transportation equipment; and installing new guide rail and
signs.

J.D. Eckman, Inc., of Atglen, Chester County, is the general contractor on
the
project that is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state
funds.
