Southbound Delaware Avenue, Richmond Street Closed Next Week for
Construction at I-95/Girard Avenue Interchange

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today announced
that
sections of southbound Delaware Avenue and southbound Richmond Street will
be
closed and detoured next week for construction of the new northbound
viaduct at
the Interstate 95/Girard Avenue Interchange in Philadelphia.

The work schedule is:

• Monday, May 8, and Tuesday, May 9, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, southbound
Delaware Avenue is scheduled to close between Aramingo Avenue and Columbia
Avenue. During construction, southbound Delaware Avenue motorists will be
directed to use westbound Girard Avenue and make a left on Frankford Avenue
to
access Delaware Avenue; and

• Monday, May 8, and Tuesday, May 9, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, southbound
Richmond Street is scheduled to close between Girard Avenue and Aramingo
Avenue. Southbound Richmond Street motorists will be detoured over Girard
Avenue, left on Frankford Avenue and left on Delaware Avenue to access
Richmond
Street.

This work is part of the $211.7 million project to rebuild and widen 1.5
miles
of northbound I-95 between the Girard Avenue and Allegheny Avenue
interchanges.

In addition to the two daytime closures, from 9:00 PM Monday, May 8, to
5:00 AM
Tuesday, May 9, a single lane and shoulder closure are scheduled on
northbound
I-95 between the Bartram Avenue/Route 291 East and Philadelphia
International
Airport interchanges for Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS)
improvements,
as part of PennDOT's initiative to update ITS equipment on regional
highways.

All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
