U.S. 202 and U.S. 30 Lane and Ramp Restrictions Scheduled Next Week for
Bridge Rehabilitations over Amtrak in Chester County

Lane and ramp closures are scheduled next week on U.S. 202 and U.S.
30/Exton
Bypass in East Whiteland and West Whiteland townships, Chester County, for
construction related to the rehabilitation of two U.S. 202 bridges over
Amtrak
rail lines, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT)
announced
today.

The work schedule is:

• Tuesday, May 30, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning,
northbound
U.S. 202 will be reduced from two-lanes-to-one between the Boot Road and
Route
401 (Conestoga Road) interchanges;
• Tuesday, May 30, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM Wednesday, May 31, the ramp from

northbound U.S. 202 to Business U.S. 30/U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue) will be
closed. Motorists will be detoured north on U.S. 202 to the Route 401
(Conestoga Road) Interchange, then on to U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue);
• Tuesday, May 30, through Thursday, June 1, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the
following morning, the eastbound U.S. 30/Exton Bypass ramp to northbound
U.S.
202 will be reduced from two-lanes-to-one; and
• Friday, June 2, from 8:00 PM to 10:00 AM Saturday, June 3, the eastbound
U.S.
30/Exton Bypass ramp to northbound U.S. 202 will be reduced from
two-lanes-to-one.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the
construction area because slowdowns will occur. The work schedule is
weather
dependent.

During the lane and ramp closures, crews will be installing shielding on
the
underside of the U.S. 202 bridges over Amtrak and the ramp from eastbound
U.S.
30/Exton Bypass, and beginning demolition of half of the northbound
structure.

Motorists are advised that backups will occur on southbound U.S. 202
approaching the U.S. 30 Interchange, especially during peak travel times.
Drivers heading to the U.S. 30 and Business U.S. 30 Interchange are advised
to
remain in the right lane on southbound U.S. 202 approaching the
interchange,
leaving the center and left lane for motorists continuing south on U.S.
202.

The work is part of a $26.4 million project to complete the final phase of
the
U.S. 202 Section 300 improvement project, which includes the rehabilitation
of
two U.S. 202 bridges over Amtrak rail lines.

Allan A Myers, Inc. of Worcester, Montgomery County, is the general
contractor
on the $26,370,555 project which is financed with 100 percent federal
funds.
