PennDOT to Improve Wismer Road Culvert over Paunacussing Creek in Solebury
Township, Bucks County
6/9/2017-KING OF PRUSSIA
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today
that
construction will begin on Monday, June 12, to rehabilitate the
structurally
deficient culvert carrying Wismer Road/Carversville Road over Paunacussing
Creek in Solebury Township, Bucks County.
Due to the nature of the repairs, weekday lane restrictions are scheduled
on
Carversville Road between Aquetong Road and Stovers Mill Road, from 9:00 AM
to
3:00 PM. The work is expected to be completed by mid-July.
The culvert rehabilitation work will include stone masonry repairs and
underpinning.
The Wismer Road culvert over Paunacussing Creek was built in 1855. The
single-span stone arch culvert is 15 feet long, 28 feet wide and carries an
average of 1,217 vehicles a day.
The replacement of the Wismer Road culvert over Paunacussing Creek is part
of
PennDOT's $6.8 million project to rehabilitate five structurally-deficient
bridges in Bucks and Montgomery counties, three structurally-deficient
culverts
in Bucks County, and to stabilize a stream embankment at a bridge in Bucks
County.
Loftus Construction, Inc. of Cinnaminson, N.J., is the general contractor
on
the project that is financed with 100 percent state funds through Act 89,
Pennsylvania's transportation plan.
Work on the entire project is scheduled to be completed in late 2018.
