Daytime and Nighttime Lane Restrictions Scheduled for Resurfacing
Operations in Philadelphia

Daytime and nighttime lane restrictions are scheduled next week on several
state highways as part of a project to repair and resurface 16.5 miles of
state
highway in Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation
(PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule:

• Monday, July 31, through Thursday, August 3, from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM,
lane
restrictions are scheduled on Ridge Avenue between U.S. 13 (33rd Street)
and
Spring Garden Street for paving;
• Monday, July 31, through Friday, August 4, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM and
7:00
PM to 6:00 AM, lane restrictions are scheduled on Pennsylvania
Avenue/Spring
Garden Street between 26th Street and Delaware Avenue for resurfacing
operations;
• Monday, July 31, through Friday, August 4, from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM, lane
restrictions are scheduled on Girard Avenue between Susquehanna Avenue and
Broad Street (Route 611) for milling;
• Monday, July 31, through Friday, August 4, from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM, lane
restrictions are scheduled on Passyunk Avenue between Essington Avenue and
Broad Street (Route 611) for crack sealing;
• Monday, July 31, through Friday, August 4, from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM, lane

restrictions are scheduled on Frankford Avenue between Torresdale Avenue
and
Robbins Street for crack sealing; and
• Wednesday, August 2, through Friday, August 4, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM,
lane
restrictions are scheduled on Girard Avenue between Susquehanna Avenue and
Broad Street (Route 611) for resurfacing operations.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through these work

zones because slowdowns will occur during construction. The contractor's
schedule is dependent on the weather.

Additional state highways scheduled for resurfacing under this contract
include:

• Chestnut Street between 22nd Street and 21st Street;
• Vine Street between the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and 7th Street;
• Vine Street between 17th Street and 7th Street; and
• Walnut Street between Broad Street (Route 611) and Front Street.

Under this improvement project, PennDOT is milling the existing roadway
surface
and repaving the state highways with new asphalt. The new pavement will
seal
the roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.

Work on the project is expected to be completed in mid-November.

James J. Anderson Construction Co., Inc., of Philadelphia is the general
contractor on the $7,136,316 project which is financed with 100 percent
state
funds.
