Construction is underway on a project to improve travel and safety along
Ridge
Avenue between Spring Garden Street and Jefferson Street in Philadelphia,
by
upgrading 11 signalized intersections with new equipment, facilities, and
operations. The project is scheduled to be completed next summer.

The work schedule is:

• Friday, July 28, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, alternating lane restrictions
are
scheduled on Ridge Avenue at Girard Avenue for roadway trench work;
• Saturday, July 29, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, alternating lane restrictions
are
scheduled on Ridge Avenue at 20th Street and 13th Street for roadway trench

work; and
• Monday, July 31, through Friday, August 4, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM,
alternating lane restrictions are scheduled on Ridge Avenue from 12th
Street to
Jefferson Street, for roadway trench and footway operations.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work
areas
because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather

dependent.

signal
heads; installing overhead signals on mast arm poles and installing LED
street
lighting; upgrading the fiber interconnect traffic signal system, signal
cabinets, controllers, signing and pavement markings along this 1.3-mile
section of Ridge Avenue.

Armour & Sons Electric, Inc. of Langhorne, Bucks County, is the general
contractor on the $1,698,438 project which is financed with 100 percent
federal
