Temporary Shoulder Restriction on I-476 North Over Route 320 (Montgomery
Avenue) in Lower Merion Township
7/22/2017-KING OF PRUSSIA
The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today
that
the right shoulder is closed on the overpass carrying northbound Interstate
476
over Route 320 (Montgomery Avenue) in Lower Merion Township, Montgomery
County,
due to damage sustained late Saturday morning when an oversized truck
struck
the underside of the northbound I-476 bridge over Route 320 (Montgomery
Avenue). The restriction will be in effect into the coming week.
The underside of the northbound I-476 bridge over Route 320 (Montgomery
Avenue)
was hit by a flatbed truck carrying a high-reach bucket truck on Saturday
morning. The impact resulted in damage to the concrete fascia beam. PennDOT
engineers inspected the bridge and determined the need for the shoulder
closure
on northbound I-476 to remove any potential load from that area of the
bridge.
