U.S. 202 South Overnight Lane Closure Scheduled Next Week for Pavement Replacement in Chester County

U.S. 202 South Overnight Lane Closure Scheduled Next Week for Pavement
Replacement in Chester County

8/18/2017-KING OF PRUSSIA

Southbound U.S. 202 will be reduced from three lanes to two between the
Route
401 and Boot Road interchanges in East Whiteland and West Whiteland
townships,
Chester County, on Friday, August 25, from 8:00 PM to 10:00 AM the
following
morning, for construction activities at the U.S. 30 Interchange, the
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work
area.
The schedule is weather dependent.

During the overnight lane closure, crews will be adjusting construction
barriers at the U.S. 30 Interchange ramp, which is being reconstructed to
replace deteriorated concrete pavement. The pavement improvement operation
is
part of a $26.4 million project to complete the final phase of the U.S. 202

Section 300 improvement project, which includes the rehabilitation of two
U.S.
202 bridges over Amtrak rail lines and the U.S. 30 exit ramp to northbound
U.S.
202.

Construction is underway through mid-2018 on the northbound U.S. 202 bridge
and
on the ramp from southbound U.S. 202 to the U.S. 30/Exton Bypass, where
one-of-the-two lanes on the ramp is closed. Both the bridge and the ramp
are
being rebuilt a-half-at-a-time.

PennDOT is maintaining two lanes of traffic in each direction on U.S. 202
while
the bridges are rehabilitated. During construction on the northbound U.S.
202
bridge, the left northbound lane shifts to the southbound bridge as an
express
lane while the right northbound lane remains on the northbound side through
the
work zone.

Allan A. Myers, Inc. of Worcester, Montgomery County, is the general
contractor
on the $26,370,555 project which is financed with 100 percent federal
funds.
