U.S. 1 South to Close Several Overnights for Bridge Beam Repair at Oxford
Valley Interchange in Bucks County

2/23/2018-KING OF PRUSSIA

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today
that
southbound U.S. 1 is scheduled to close at the Oxford Valley Road
Interchange
in Falls, Lower Makefield and Middletown townships, Bucks County, on
Monday,
March 5, through Friday, March 9, from 9:00 PM to 6:00 AM, for bridge beam
repair on the structure carrying Oxford Valley Road over U.S. 1. The bridge
was
damaged after it was struck by an oversized vehicle late last year.

During construction, southbound U.S. 1 motorists will be directed to exit
at
Oxford Valley Road and then re-enter the highway at the entrance ramps at
the
interchange.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through this area
because slowdowns will occur. The work schedule is weather dependent.

The Oxford Valley Road bridge over U.S. 1 is 167 feet long and 90 feet wide
and
carries about 31,000 vehicles a day. The three-span, steel-I beam bridge
was
built in 1972 and rehabilitated in August 2017 as part of a $11,766,000
project
to rehabilitate four structurally-deficient bridges in Bucks, Chester,
Montgomery and Philadelphia counties, and replace six
structurally-deficient
culverts in Bucks, Chester and Delaware counties.

Loftus Construction, Inc. of Cinnaminson, N.J., is the general contractor
on
this bridge repair project.
