Weekday Lane Restrictions Scheduled Next Week As Part of Main Street Bridge

Weekday lane restrictions with flagging are scheduled in both directions on

Main Street between Park Avenue and Elm Street in Sellersville Borough,
Bucks
County, on Monday, February 26, through Friday, March 2, from 9:00 AM to
3:00
PM, for construction activities related to the project to replace the
three-span bridge carrying Main Street over Perkiomen Creek, the
Pennsylvania
Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

Crews will be performing pipe drainage work; removing trees; constructing
an
access road; and relocating utilities.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the area
because slowdowns will occur. All scheduled activities are weather
dependent.

During construction, the bridge will remain open to vehicular and
pedestrian
traffic as the contractor builds the new structure. However, there will be
additional periods of lane restrictions with flagging.

PennDOT's contractor will replace the current bridge with a new two-span,
pre-stressed, concrete bulb-tee beam bridge. The project scope includes the

installation of eight-foot sidewalks on both sides; resurfacing of the
bridge
approaches; and performing safety upgrades and other miscellaneous
construction. The new structure will be 56 feet wide and 153 feet long.

The current bridge, built in 1940, is 46 feet wide and 128 feet long. The
existing structure is currently posted for 13 tons and 17 tons for
combination
vehicles.

J.D. Eckman, Inc. of Atglen, Chester County, is the general contractor on
the
$4,537,292 improvement project which is financed with 80 percent federal
and 20
percent state funds. Construction on this bridge improvement project is
expected to be completed in spring 2019.
