Chew Avenue and Academy Road Weekday and Weeknight Lane Restrictions
Scheduled for Resurfacing Operations in Philadelphia

5/30/2018-KING OF PRUSSIA

Daytime and nighttime lane restrictions are scheduled next week on a pair
of
state highways as part of a project to repair and resurface 20 miles of
state
highway in Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation
(PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:

• Monday, June 4, through Friday, June 8, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM, lane
restrictions are scheduled on Chew Avenue/Olney Avenue between Mount Airy
Avenue and Broad Street (Route 611), for resurfacing operations; and
• Monday, June 4, through Friday, June 8, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, lane
restrictions are scheduled on Academy Road between Knights Road and the
Interstate 95 Interchange, for paving.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work
areas
because slowdowns will occur. The contractor's schedule is dependent on the

weather.

State highways completed under this resurfacing project include:

• Knights Road between U.S. 13 (Frankford Avenue) and the bridge over
Poquessing Creek.

Additional state highway scheduled for resurfacing under this contract
include:

• Erie Avenue between U.S. 13 (Hunting Park Avenue) and Kensington Avenue.

Under this improvement project, PennDOT is milling the existing roadway
surface
and repaving the state highways with new asphalt. The new pavement will
seal
the roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.

James J. Anderson Construction Co., Inc., of Philadelphia, is the general
contractor on the $7,196,303 project, which is financed with 100 percent
state
funds from Act 89, Pennsylvania's Transportation Plan.

Work on the entire project is expected to be completed in fall 2018.
