Columbus Boulevard/Lombard Circle Ramp to I-95 North to Close Tuesday Night
in Center City Philadelphia

The Columbus Boulevard/Lombard Circle ramp to Interstate 95 North in Center
City Philadelphia is scheduled to close from 9:00 PM Tuesday, May 22, to
5:00
AM Wednesday, May 23, for construction activities on a new project to
install a
new underpass lighting system in the covered section of I-95 near Dock
Street,
the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
During construction, Northbound Columbus Boulevard motorists who normally
use
the Lombard Circle ramp to I-95 north will be directed to use the circle to
travel south on Columbus Boulevard and then follow signs to I-95 north.
Motorists traveling south on Columbus Boulevard also will be directed to
continue south and follow signs to I-95 north.
If weather postpones the operation, the contractor will close the ramp
Wednesday, May 23, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning.
In addition to the ramp closure, a right lane and shoulder closure remains
in
place on northbound I-95 from just north of the Washington Avenue/Columbus
Boulevard (Exit 20) Interchange to just south of the Interstate
676/Callowhill
(Exit 22) Interchange. The right lane and shoulder closure will remain in
place
Mondays through Fridays from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning
through
the end of June.
Motorists are advised to allow more time for travel on northbound I-95 near
the
work area.
In addition to installing a new underpass lighting system, PennDOT's
contractor
is reconstructing five pump stations in Philadelphia and Bristol Township,
Bucks County. All work on this project is scheduled to be completed by
December
2019
PKF-Mark III, Inc. of Newtown, Bucks County is the general contractor on
the
$29,884,795 improvement project which is financed with 100 percent federal
funds.
