I-76, I-95 Among Several Highways Restricted Next Week for Bridge
Inspections in Philadelphia and Delaware Counties

Travel restrictions are scheduled next week on several state highways and
interstates including Interstate 76 and Interstate 95 in Philadelphia and
Delaware counties for bridge inspections, the Pennsylvania Department of
Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:

• Monday, June 18, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, a right lane closure is
scheduled
on eastbound I-76 between the Montgomery Drive/West River Drive and Spring
Garden Street/Haverford Avenue interchanges in Philadelphia;
• Tuesday, June 19, from 9:00 AM to 11:00 PM, a right lane closure is
scheduled
on the ramp from northbound I-95 to Island Avenue in Philadelphia;
• Tuesday, June 19, from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM, a left lane closure is
scheduled
on southbound I-95 between the Philadelphia International Airport and the
Essington interchanges in Philadelphia and Tinicum Township, Delaware
County;
• Tuesday, June 19, from 12:30 PM to 2:30 PM, a right lane closure is
scheduled
on the ramp from Island Avenue to I-95 South in Philadelphia;
• Tuesday, June 19, from 1:30 PM to 3:00 PM, a right lane closure is
scheduled
on
northbound I-95 between the Island Avenue and Broad Street/Pattison Avenue
interchanges in Philadelphia;
• Thursday, June 21, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, a right lane closure is
scheduled on northbound I-95 between the Cottman Avenue/Rhawn Street and
Academy Road/Linden Avenue interchanges in Philadelphia;
• Thursday, June 21, from 11:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lane closures are scheduled
on
southbound I-95 between the Academy Road/Linden Avenue and Bridge
Street/Harbison Avenue interchanges in Philadelphia; and
• Saturday, June 23, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, a right lane closure is
scheduled
on Route 291 (Penrose Avenue) between 26th Street and I-95 South in
Philadelphia.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work
areas. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The inspections are part of PennDOT's program to inspect bridges at least
once
every two years to ensure the safety and overall condition of the
structures.
