Wolf Administration Announces Work to Begin on Project to Improve Route 23 (Main Street) in Elverson Borough, Chester County
King of Prussia, PA – The Wolf Administration announced today that construction is scheduled to begin on Monday, July 30, on a project to replace deteriorated drainage structures and improve a 1.2 mile stretch of Route 23 (Main Street) in Elverson Borough, Chester County.
"Restoration projects such as this one are crucial to PennDOT's mission to provide a sustainable transportation system that will be embraced by communities, said Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf. "The replacement of deteriorated drainage structures and reconstruction of full-depth pavement will provide a tremendous benefit to Elverson residents and other commuters traveling through the borough.
The work schedule is:
- Eastbound Route 23 (Main Street) is scheduled to close between the West Nantmeal Township border with Elverson Borough and Pine Street at 7:00 AM on Monday, July 30, through mid-November, for pavement reconstruction. During the around-the-clock closure, eastbound Route 23 (Main Street) motorists will be detoured over Route 401 (Conestoga Road) and Route 345 (Bulltown Road).
Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near both directions on Route 23 (Main Street) in the work areas because backups and delays will occur during this operation.
In addition to replacing deteriorated drainage structures, work will also include full-depth pavement reconstruction and installation of ADA curb ramps at Route 82 (Chestnut Street), Hall Street, Park Avenue, Pine Street, and Brick Lane.
Allan Myers, LP, of Worcester, PA, is the general contractor on the $4,493,554 project which is financed with 100 percent federal funds. Construction on this restoration project is expected to be completed in October 2019.
This operation is also being coordinated with the Elverson Water Company which will work concurrently to replace its water line on Route 23 (Main Street).
