Wolf Administration Announces Work to Begin on Project to Repair and Resurface 17 Miles of State Highway in Chester County
King of Prussia, PA – The Wolf Administration announced today that construction is scheduled to begin next week on a project to repair and resurface 17 miles of state highway in Chester County.
"The investment is worth the return when it comes to resurfacing efforts and Pennsylvania's infrastructure," Governor Tom Wolf said. "Restoring these roadways in Chester County will help residents go about their daily lives in a more efficient and safe manner."
Beginning Tuesday, July 24, through Thursday, July 26, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, lane restrictions are scheduled on Route 401 (Conestoga Road) between the Berks County line and Route 100 (Pottstown Pike) in Elverson Borough, and West Nantmeal, East Nantmeal and West Vincent townships, for milling.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because slowdowns will occur. The contractor's schedule is dependent on the weather.
Additional state highways scheduled for resurfacing under this contract include:
• Route 29 (Main Street/Manavon Street/Starr Street/Bridge Street) between Pothouse Road and the Montgomery County line in Schuylkill Township and Phoenixville Borough;
• Route 345 (Pine Swamp Road) between Warwick Road and the Berks County line in Warwick Township;
• Business U.S. 30 (Lancaster Avenue) from south of Route 113 (Uwchlan Avenue) to north of Cornerstone Boulevard in Downingtown Borough and East Caln Township; and
• Dorlan Mill Road from Route 282 (Creek Road) to just north of Longfields Way in East Brandywine and Upper Uwchlan townships.
Under this improvement project, PennDOT is milling the existing roadway surface and repaving the state highways with new asphalt. The new pavement will seal the roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.
Allan Myers, LP of Worcester, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the $3,597,555 project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds.
Work on the project is expected to be completed in December 2018.
