Wolf Administration Announces Work to Begin on Project to Repair and Resurface 13 Miles of State Highway in Bucks County

King of Prussia, PA – The Wolf Administration announced today that construction is scheduled to begin next week on a project to repair and resurface 13 miles of state highway in Bucks County.

"Maintaining our infrastructure is critical for local families who depend on our state highways for traveling to work, getting to school or doing any of the various errands that come about in our everyday lives," Governor Tom Wolf said. "This project will ensure quality local roads for Bucks County residents in these areas."

This project accompanies the governor's Resurface PA initiative, an aggressive campaign launched by PennDOT to accelerate repaving interstates and attacking potholes across the state's 40,000 miles of PennDOT-maintained roads, the nation's fifth largest such system.

Beginning Monday, August 13, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lane restrictions with flagging are scheduled in both directions on Old Bethlehem Pike between Route 563 (Mountain View Drive) and Route 212 (Quakertown Road) in Haycock and Springfield townships, for milling and paving. This weekday restriction will be in effect through Friday, September 14.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because slowdowns will occur. The contractor's schedule is dependent on the weather.

Additional state highways scheduled for resurfacing under this contract include:

Blue School Road between Blooming Glen Road and Elephant Road in Bedminster and Hilltown townships; and
State Road from just west of Tumblebrook Road to Route 212 (Quakertown Road) in Springfield Township.

Under this improvement project, PennDOT will mill the existing roadway surface and repave the state highways with new asphalt. The new pavement will seal the roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.

Blooming Glen Contractors, Inc., of Perkasie, Bucks County, is the general contractor on the $2,746,192 project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds.

Work on the project is expected to be completed in December 2018.
