Evergreen Drive Closure at U.S. 322 Next Sunday Night for Construction in Concord Township, Delaware County
King of Prussia, PA – A section of Evergreen Drive in Concord Township, Delaware County, will be closed at the intersection with U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway) from 6:00 PM Sunday, September 23, until 6:00 PM Monday, September 24, for reconstruction to improve the south side of the intersection, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
During the closure, which will affect approximately 400 feet of Evergreen Drive south of the intersection, access will be maintained to all businesses and residents. Motorists will be directed to use the Evergreen Drive intersection at U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike).
The intersection is one of nine being reconstructed and improved under PennDOT's $62.6 million project to widen U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway) between U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) and Clayton Park Drive.
PennDOT began construction in spring 2017 on Section 101, the first-of-two mainline projects to widen and reconstruct a 6.7-mile section of U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway) from U.S. 1 (Baltimore Pike) to just east of Route 452 (Market Street) in Concord, Bethel and Upper Chichester townships. Work on the first mainline section of U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway) is scheduled to be completed in late 2020.
J.D. Eckman, Inc. of Atglen, Chester County, is the general contractor on the project which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds.
Engineering design is advancing for the widening and reconstruction of the eastern section (Section 102) of the highway from just east of Clayton Park Drive to just east of Route 452 (Market Street). Construction on this section is expected to start in 2020.
An additional contract to replace the U.S. 322 (Conchester Highway) bridge over the CSX railroad and Bethel Road as well as improvements to the adjacent Bethel Road Interchange is under design.
