I-676 Nighttime Lane Closures Planned for Painting, Post Construction Clean Up in Philadelphia
King of Prussia, PA – Periodic eastbound or westbound single lane closures will be in place on Interstate 676 between the Broad Street and Interstate 76 interchanges in Philadelphia on Monday, October 29, through Thursday, November 1, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning for median barrier painting and post-construction clean-up operations, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
Motorists are advised that backups may occur at times approaching the work zone. All schedule activities are weather permitting.
The nighttime operations are among the final construction activities on the $64.8 million project that replaced seven poor condition bridges over I-676 between 22nd Street and 18th Street, repaved I-676 in the work area, and completed landscaping and streetscape improvements above the expressway. The separate 20th Street bridge and the pedestrian bridge between 19th and 20th streets were replaced as a single structure.
Bridge construction and above-expressway improvements were substantially completed in May with the opening of the new 18th Street overpass, the last of seven structures replaced under the 100 percent federally-funded project.
Buckley & Company, Inc. of Philadelphia is the general contractor on the project.
