Route 73 (Skippack Pike) Daytime Lane Restriction Next Week for Paving in Skippack Township, Montgomery County

King of Prussia, PA – Daytime lane restrictions are scheduled next week on Route 73 (Skippack Pike) in Skippack Township and Meyers Road in Perkiomen Township, Montgomery County for paving and various construction activities on an intersection improvement project, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:
  • Monday, October 8, through Friday, October 12, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Meyers Road will be reduced to a single lane with flagging between Wismer Road and Miller Road for sediment basin conversion; and
  • Thursday, October 11, and Friday, October 12, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, and Saturday, October 13, from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Route 73 (Skippack Pike) will be reduced to a single lane with flagging between Squirrel Hill Road and Perkiomen Creek Road for paving.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the construction areas because backups and slowdowns will occur.

The work is part of PennDOT's project to improve travel and safety at the intersection of Route 29 (Gravel Pike) at Plank Road/Otts Road; the intersection of Route 73 (Skippack Pike) at Plank Road; and the Meyers Road, Seitz Road and Township Line Road intersection in Skippack, Perkiomen and Limerick townships, Montgomery County.

The improvements include widening the intersection of Route 73 (Skippack Pike) and Plank Road to include left turn lanes on both roads; relocating Otts Road to align with Plank Road at Route 29 (Gravel Pike) to create a four-leg intersection; adding left turn lanes on Route 29 (Gravel Pike) at Plank Road/Otts Road; adding left turn lanes on Plank Road and Otts Road at Route 29 (Gravel Pike); realigning Meyers Road to intersect with Township Line Road; realigning Seitz Road to form a T-intersection with Meyers Road; installing new traffic signals along the project corridor; and improving the roadway alignment in three locations.

H & K Group, Inc., of Skippack, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the $11,292,416 contract that financed with 100 percent state funds. The project is expected to finish in spring 2019.
