Route 73 (Skippack Pike), Plank Road Restricted Next Week for Paving in Montgomery County

King of Prussia, PA – Lane restrictions with flagging are scheduled on Route 73 (Skippack Pike) and Plank Road in Skippack and Perkiomen townships, Montgomery County on Monday, October 15, through Friday, October 19, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM for paving operations, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work locations are:
  • Route 73 (Skippack Pike) between Squirrel Hill Road and Perkiomen Creek Road; and
  • Plank Road between Route 73 (Skippack Pike) and Route 29 (Gravel Pike).
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the construction areas because backups and slowdowns will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent and subject to change.

The paving operations are part of PennDOT's project to improve travel and safety at the intersection of Route 29 (Gravel Pike) at Plank Road/Otts Road; the intersection of Route 73 (Skippack Pike) at Plank Road; and the Meyers Road, Seitz Road and Township Line Road intersection in Skippack, Perkiomen and Limerick townships, Montgomery County.

The improvements include widening the intersection of Route 73 (Skippack Pike) and Plank Road to include left turn lanes on both roads; relocating Otts Road to align with Plank Road at Route 29 (Gravel Pike) to create a four-leg intersection; adding left turn lanes on Route 29 (Gravel Pike) at Plank Road/Otts Road; adding left turn lanes on Plank Road and Otts Road at Route 29 (Gravel Pike); realigning Meyers Road to intersect with Township Line Road; realigning Seitz Road to form a T-intersection with Meyers Road; installing new traffic signals along the project corridor; and improving the roadway alignment in three locations.

H & K Group, Inc., of Skippack, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the $11,292,416 contract that financed with 100 percent state funds. The project is expected to finish in spring 2019.
