PennDOT Reopens Old Forty Foot Road Bridge in Towamencin Township, Montgomery County

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today reopened the bridge carrying Old Forty Foot Road over Skippack Creek in Towamencin Township, Montgomery County. The bridge was completed several months ahead of schedule.

PennDOT's contractor replaced the existing bridge with a two-span, pre-stressed, concrete spread box beam bridge. The new structure is 124 feet long, 35 feet wide and includes five-foot shoulders.

The new structure replaces the three-span, steel I-beam bridge built in 1924. That structure was 116 feet long, 22 feet wide, and carried an average of 5,217 vehicles a day.

H&K Group of Skippack, Montgomery County was the general contractor on the $1,479,567 bridge improvement project.
