PennDOT Reopens Abrams Road Bridge in Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County

King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) today reopened the bridge carrying Abrams Road over Abrams Run in Upper Merion Township, Montgomery County.

PennDOT's contractor excavated undermined areas around an abutment and support pier and underpinned these areas with concrete; removed a section of damaged concrete retaining wall; and built new gabion basket retaining wall section with rip rap rock protection to prevent future scouring.

Built in 1937, the two-span bridge is 38 feet long, 23 feet wide and carries an average of 4,427 vehicles a day.
