I-76 I-95, U.S. 1 Among Several State Highways Restricted Next Week for Bridge Inspections in the Philadelphia Region
King of Prussia, PA – Lane closures are scheduled next week on several state highways in the Philadelphia region including Interstate 95, Interstate 76 and U.S. 1 for bridge inspections, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
The work schedule is:
- Monday, March 25, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled on westbound I-76 between the South Street and Interstate 676 interchanges in Philadelphia;
- Tuesday, March 26, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a right lane and shoulder closure is scheduled on southbound I-95 at the Edgmont Avenue/Avenue of the States Interchange in the City of Chester, Delaware County;
- Tuesday, March 26, and Wednesday, March 27, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled on the westbound I-76 ramp to southbound U.S. 1 in Philadelphia;
- Wednesday, March 27, and Thursday, March 28, from 10:00 PM to 1:00 AM, a right lane closure is scheduled on southbound U.S. 1 between the Wissahickon Avenue/Hunting Park Avenue and I-76 interchanges in Philadelphia;
- Wednesday, March 27, through Friday, March 29, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a left lane closure is scheduled on northbound U.S. 1 between the I-76 and Wissahickon Avenue/Hunting Park Avenue interchanges in Philadelphia;
- Thursday, March 28, from 1:00 AM to 5:00 AM, a double right lane closure is scheduled on northbound U.S. 1 between the I-76 and Wissahickon Avenue/Hunting Park Avenue interchanges in Philadelphia;
- Saturday, March 30, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled on the westbound I-76 ramp to northbound U.S. 1 in Philadelphia;
- Sunday, March 31, from 8:00 AM to 11:00 AM, the eastbound I-76 ramp to northbound U.S. 1 in Philadelphia will be closed and detoured. During the closure, motorists will be directed to continue on eastbound I-76, exit at Montgomery Drive and take westbound I-76 to access northbound U.S. 1; and
- Sunday, March 31, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a right lane closure is scheduled on westbound Egypt Road between Pinetown Road and New Mill Road in Lower Providence Township, Montgomery County.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through all work areas. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The inspections are part of PennDOT's program to inspect bridges at least once every two years to ensure the safety and overall condition of the structures.
