Forge Road, Hopewell Road To Be Restricted Next Week for Paving Operations in Chester County

King of Prussia, PA – Lane restrictions are scheduled next week on Forge Road and Hopewell Road in East Nottingham, West Nottingham and Lower Oxford townships and Oxford Borough, Chester County, for milling and paving operations, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today. The work is part of a project to seal coat 38 miles of state highway in Chester County and 32 miles in Bucks County.

The work schedule is:

  • Monday, April 15, through Saturday, April 20, from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, on Forge Road between Ashville Road and Baltimore Pike in East Nottingham and Lower Oxford townships; and
  • Wednesday, April 17, through Saturday, April 20, from 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, on Hopewell Road between Route 272 (Christine Road) and Wedgewood Road in East Nottingham and West Nottingham townships and Oxford Borough.

Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent and subject to change.

Under this seal coat project, PennDOT will preserve and extend the life of these state roadways by applying a layer of fine stone on top of fresh oil. The stone will be rolled in place and loose aggregate swept from the roadway once the seal coating application has cured. This maintenance treatment seals the road surface to keep water out, and prevents formation of potholes. This treatment also improves the skid resistance of the roadway.

Asphalt Maintenance Solutions, LLC of Center Valley, PA is the general contractor on the $1,858,666 project which is financed with 100 percent state funds. Weather permitting, the project is expected to be completed this summer.
