I-76 Lane Closures, Traffic Stoppages Overnights Next Week for ITS Installation in Philadelphia and Montgomery Counties
King of Prussia, PA – Single lane closures will be in place on Interstate 76 (Schuylkill Expressway) in both directions at various locations between the Montgomery Drive and the Pennsylvania Turnpike interchanges in Philadelphia and Montgomery counties on Monday, May 6, through Friday May 10, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM for installation of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS) components, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
During this operation, I-76 motorists may encounter intermittent 15-minute traffic stoppages through the work zone from 12:00 AM to 5:00 AM each night for work on overhead wire crossings.
In addition, shoulder closures remain in place on I-76 between the Pennsylvania Turnpike and Montgomery Drive on Mondays through Saturdays from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM.
Motorists are advised to allow more time for travel in the work areas because backups and slowdowns will occur. The contractor's schedule is weather dependent and subject to change.
This work is part of the first phase of a long-range, comprehensive, multimodal transportation management plan designed to enhance travel and safety along the Interstate 76 (Schuylkill Expressway) corridor between King of Prussia and Philadelphia.
