Route 532 Among Several State Highways Restricted Next Week for Resurfacing Operations in Philadelphia

​King of Prussia, PA – Motorists will encounter lane restrictions on several state highways including Route 532 (Bustleton Avenue/Welsh Road) for milling, paving and other road work, as part of a project to repair and resurface 39 miles of state highway in Philadelphia, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule is:

• Monday, May 13, through Wednesday, May 15, from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM, lane restrictions are scheduled on Route 532 (Bustleton Avenue/Welsh Road) between U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) and County Line Road;
• Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM, lane restrictions are scheduled on Route 73 (Cottman Avenue) between the Montgomery County line and State Road;
• Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, and 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM, lane restrictions are scheduled on Route 611 (Broad Street/York Road) between Indiana Avenue and Cheltenham Avenue; and
• Monday, May 13, through Friday, May 17, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, lane restrictions are scheduled on State Road/New State Road between Route 73 (Cottman Avenue) and Levick Street.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because slowdowns will occur. The contractor's schedule is dependent on the weather.

Additional state highways scheduled for resurfacing under this contract include:

• Bridge Street between Richmond Street and Frankford Avenue;
• Christopher Columbus Boulevard between Oregon Avenue/Delaware Avenue and Race Street;
• Delaware Avenue between Spring Garden Street and Columbia Avenue; \
• Richmond Street between Lewis Street and Bristol Street;
• Sixth Street between Walnut Street and Spring Garden Street;
• City Line Lower and Upper Bridge between U.S. 1 (City Avenue) and Ridge Avenue;
• Wayne Avenue/Walnut Lane between Wissahickon Avenue and Lincoln Drive; and
• Ramp Road between Kelly Drive/Lincoln Drive/Ridge Avenue.

Under this improvement project, PennDOT is milling the existing roadway surface and repaving the state highways with new asphalt. The new pavement will seal the roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.

James J. Anderson Construction Co., Inc., of Philadelphia, is the general contractor on the $12,775,901 project, which is financed with 100 percent state funds from Act 89, Pennsylvania's transportation plan. Work on the project is expected to be completed in December.
