Two Township Line Road Intersections to Close at Night Next Week for Paving Operations in Montgomery County
King of Prussia, PA – Two Township Line Road intersections will be closed and detoured at night next week for paving operations under a project to widen and improve the highway at North Wales Road in Upper Gwynedd and Worcester townships, and at Arch Road/Arch Street Road in Whitpain, East Norriton and Plymouth townships, Montgomery County, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
The work schedule is:
Monday, May 13, Tuesday, May 14, and possibly Wednesday, May 15, from 9:00 PM to 5:00 AM, the Township Line Road and North Wales Road intersection will be closed in all directions. During the intersection closure, the following detours will be in place:
- Township Line Road motorists will be directed to use Whitehall Road, Route 73 (Skippack Pike), and U.S. 202 (Dekalb Pike); and
- North Wales Road motorists will be directed to use Germantown Pike, Whitehall Road and Route 73 (Skippack Pike).
Wednesday, May 15, through Friday, May 17, from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM, the Township Line Road intersection with Arch Road/Arch Street Road will be closed in all directions. Depending on when work is completed at the North Wales Road intersection, the contractor may begin this operation on Thursday night, May 16, from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM. During the intersection closure, the following detours will be in place:
- Township Line Road motorists will be directed to use U.S. 202 (Dekalb Pike), Route 73 (Skippack Pike) and Walton Road; and
- Arch Road/Arch Street Road motorists will be directed to use Germantown Pike, U.S. 202 (Dekalb Pike) and Jolly Road.
During both intersection closures, police and flaggers will direct local traffic. Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the construction zones because backups and delays will occur. All activities are weather dependent and subject to change.
These paving operations are part of a $4.4 million project to improve and widen both intersections by adding turn lanes; and installing new signals and ADA compliant pedestrian facilities, pavement markings, signing and new drainage structures.
Scott Building Corporation of Norristown, Montgomery County is the general contractor on the project which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds.
This intersection improvement project is a part of a multi-phase program to reconstruct, widen and enhance travel along a 9.1-mile section of U.S. 202 and selected intersections between Johnson Highway in Norristown and Route 309 in Montgomery Township.
