Eastbound Route 23 (Main Street) to Close for Improvement Project in Elverson Borough
King of Prussia, PA – Eastbound Route 23 (Main Street) is scheduled to close between Route 82 (Chestnut Street) and the Chester/Berks County line in Elverson Borough, Chester County on Monday, June 17, through September, for a drainage improvement project, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
During the closure, eastbound Route 23 (Main Street) motorists will be detoured over Route 401 (Conestoga Road) and Route 345 (Bulltown Road). Westbound Route 23 (Main Street) traffic will be maintained for the duration of the project.
Eastbound Route 23 (Main Street) between Route 82 (Chestnut Street) and Pine Street which had been closed and detoured since early March will reopen on Monday, June 17, as operations enter the next phase of construction.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
Work on this restoration project began in July 2018 to replace deteriorated drainage structures; perform full-depth pavement reconstruction; and install ADA curb ramps at the intersections with Route 82 (Chestnut Street), Hall Street, Park Avenue, Pine Street, and Brick Lane.
This operation is also being coordinated with the Elverson Water Company which will work concurrently to replace its water line on Route 23 (Main Street).
Allan Myers, LP, of Worcester, PA, is the general contractor on the $4,493,554 project which is financed with 100 percent federal funds. Construction on the entire project is expected to be completed in the fall.
