Route 63 (Sumneytown Pike) Lane Closure Scheduled Weekdays for Bridge Replacement Project in Montgomery County
King of Prussia, PA – A lane closure with flagging is scheduled weekdays on Route 63 (Sumneytown Pike) between Thompson Road and Heather Drive in Upper Salford Township, Montgomery County, on Monday, June 10, through Wednesday, June 26, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, for temporary barrier placement at the intersection of Barndt Road and Route 63 (Sumneytown Pike), the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today. The work is part of a project to replace three bridges in poor condition carrying Route 63 (Sumneytown Pike) over Unami Creek, Ridge Valley Creek and the East Branch of the Perkiomen Creek.
Drivers are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays will occur.
Under this project, two bridges, over the Unami Creek and Ridge Valley Creek remain closed and detoured through fall 2019 for replacement. Local access is being maintained up to the construction zone for residents.
A third bridge, over the East Branch of the Perkiomen Creek, has been reduced to a single lane on Route 63 (Sumneytown Pike) between Long Mill Road and Shady Lane through spring 2020. Traffic is being controlled using a temporary traffic signal.
H & K Group, Inc., of Skippack, PA is the general contractor on the $9,565,527 project which is financed with 80 percent federal and 20 percent state funds.
