U.S. 202 North Lane, Ramp Restrictions at Night Next Week for Bridge Painting in Chester County
King of Prussia, PA – A single lane closure will be in place on northbound U.S. 202 between the Boot Road and Route 401 interchanges in East Whiteland and West Whiteland townships, Chester County, on Monday, June 17, through Friday, June 21, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, and until 10:00 AM Saturday, June 22, for painting of the Morstein Road overpass, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
In addition, the ramp from eastbound U.S. 30/Exton Bypass to northbound U.S. 202 will be closed from 8:00 PM Monday, June 17, to 5:00 AM Tuesday, June 18, for painting of the southbound U.S. 202 bridge over the ramp and adjacent Amtrak rail lines. Motorists heading for northbound U.S. 202 will exit at Business U.S. 30, turn right onto Business U.S. 30 and right onto the ramp to northbound U.S. 202.
Motorists are advised that backups may occur at times approaching the work zone. The schedule is weather dependent.
PennDOT is currently rehabilitating the structural steel on the Morstein Road overpass and rehabilitating and re-decking the outside half of the southbound U.S. 202 bridge over Amtrak following completion of repairs and re-decking of the inner half of the bridge in late 2018. Rehabilitation of the northbound bridge finished in mid-2018.
The work is part of PennDOT's $26.4 million project to rehabilitate the northbound and southbound U.S. 202 bridges over Amtrak and the U.S. 30/Exton Bypass ramp, rehabilitate the Morstein Road overpass, and replace the concrete pavement on the ramps to and from U.S. 202 and U.S. 30/Exton Bypass. The entire project is expected to be completed in the fall.
Allan A Myers, Inc. of Worcester, Montgomery County, is the general contractor on the project, which is financed with 100 percent federal funds. For more information, visit www.us202-300.com.
