I-76 Overnight Lane Closures Next Week, Next Weekend for ITS Installation in Montgomery County
King of Prussia, PA – Interstate 76 motorists will encounter an overnight lane closure in both directions from Belmont Avenue to just west of the Gladwyne Interchange in Lower Merion Township, Montgomery County on Tuesday, November 19, through Monday, November 25 for installation of Intelligent Transportation Systems (ITS), the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
The work schedule is:
- Tuesday, November 19, through Thursday, from 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning, a single lane closure will be in place on eastbound and westbound I-76;
- Friday, November 22, and Saturday, November 23, from 11:00 PM to 9:00 AM the following morning, a single lane closure will be in place on westbound I-76; and
- Sunday, November 24, from 11:00 PM to 5:00 AM the following morning a single lane closure will be in place on westbound I-76.
In addition, periodic weekdays shoulder closures will remain in place on I-76 from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM at various locations between the Pennsylvania Turnpike and Montgomery Drive in Montgomery and Philadelphia counties.
Motorists are advised to allow more time for travel in the work area because backups and slowdowns will occur. The contractor's schedule is weather dependent.
This work is part of the first phase of a long-range, comprehensive, multimodal transportation management plan designed to enhance travel and safety along the Interstate 76 (Schuylkill Expressway) corridor between King of Prussia and Philadelphia. For additional details, visit www.transform76.com.
