I-95, U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) Among Several State Highways Restricted Next Week for Bridge Inspections in Philadelphia
King of Prussia, PA – Lane closures are scheduled on several state highways in Philadelphia next week, including Interstate 95 and U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) for bridge inspections, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.
The work schedule is:
- Monday, February 10, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, on southbound I-95 between Route 63 (Woodhaven Road) and Cottman Avenue interchanges;
- Tuesday, February 11, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, on northbound I-95 between Betsy Ross Bridge/Aramingo Avenue and Bridge Street interchanges;
- Tuesday, February 11, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM, on southbound I-95 between Betsy Ross Bridge/Aramingo Avenue and Castor Avenue interchanges;
- Tuesday, February 11, from 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM, on Tacony Street between Fraley Street and Aramingo Avenue in Philadelphia;
- Wednesday, February 12, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, on southbound I-95 between Packer Avenue and Enterprise Avenue interchanges;
- Wednesday, February 12, from 12:00 PM to 3:00 PM on northbound I-95 between Broad Street and Packer Avenue/Walt Whitman Bridge interchanges in Philadelphia;
- Thursday, February 13, from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, in both directions on Terminal Avenue between Route 611 (Broad Street) and Darien Street; and
- Thursday, February 13 and Friday, February 14, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, in both directions on U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) between Ryan Avenue and Tyson Avenue.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because slowdowns will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.
The inspections are part of PennDOT's program to inspect bridges at least once every two years to ensure the safety and overall condition of the structures.
