This is a message from Abington Township: Due to the smoke from wildfires in Eastern Canada, the Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) has issued an Air Quality Action Day for fine particulate matter for Wednesday June 7th, 2023. Current air quality levels in the Montgomery County region range from unhealthy (151-200) to very unhealthy (201-300).

In unhealthy conditions (151-200), residents should limit time outdoors or take frequent breaks if you need to be outside. Vulnerable populations, including small children, the elderly, and those with respiratory ailments should avoid being outdoors for prolonged periods of time.

In very unhealthy conditions (201-300), all residents should avoid being outside for prolonged periods of time. Vulnerable populations, including small children, the elderly, and those with respiratory ailments should avoid all outdoor activities.

Residents are urged to use their best judgment when deciding to call 9-1-1 to report conditions such as those described above. However, if you are unsure of whether or not you need the fire department to respond, as always, we encourage you to call or text 9-1-1. Additionally, residents are urged to use caution when driving due to decreased visibility on the roads this evening.
