PennDOT Announced U.S. 202 (Dekalb Pike) Reopened Following Sinkhole Repair
U.S. 202 (Dekalb Pike) has reopened in both directions between Henderson Road and Saulin Boulevard following sinkhole repair by PA American Water.
All northbound and southbound travel lanes were reopened at about 8:20 PM.
U.S. 202 (Dekalb Pike) was closed just after 8:00 PM on Monday, July 10, following the discovery of a sinkhole during a reported water outage in the area.
PA American Water repaired the water main; filled the sinkhole with aggregate and stones; wrapped the fill in a geotextile fabric to stabilize the ground; and installed a sub-base before paving with asphalt and line striping the highway.
Lane closures on U.S. 202 (Dekalb Pike) will be needed at a date to be determined to replace the asphalt with concrete. The restrictions will occur during off-peak travel times.
