Bridge Painting, Intersection Construction Planned Next Week on Rockhill Drive in Bensalem Township
King of Prussia, PA – The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today that construction is planned on Rockhill Drive and U.S. 1 in Bensalem Township under PennDOT's $116 million project to reconstruct, widen, and improve a three-mile section of U.S. 1 in Bucks County.
Motorists are advised of the following travel restrictions:
- Monday, November 18, through Friday, November 22, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a single lane pattern will be in place in both directions on Rockhill Drive between Old Lincoln Highway and Neshaminy Boulevard for bridge painting.
- From 7:00 PM Friday, November 22, to 7:00 AM Monday, November 25, Rockhill Drive will be closed between Old Lincoln Highway and Neshaminy Boulevard for intersection reconstruction.
- Monday, November 25, and Tuesday, November 26, from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM the following morning, a single pattern with 15 minute traffic stoppages will be in place in both directions on U.S. 1 between Rockhill Drive and Route 413 (Bellevue Avenue) for a traffic shift.
During the Rockhill Drive closure, motorists are directed to use the following detours:
- Rockhill Drive to U.S. 1 North: North on Neshaminy Blvd, west on Bristol Road, south on Old Lincoln highway to east on Street Road to the ramp to U.S. 1 north.
- U.S. 1 North to Rockhill Drive: North on U.S. 1, exit Penndel/Business U.S. 1, south on Old Lincoln Highway, east on Bristol Road, south on Neshaminy Boulevard back to Rockhill Drive.
- U.S. 1 South to Neshaminy Mall: Exit at Neshaminy/Rockhill Drive, west on Rockhill Drive, north on Old Lincoln Highway, east on Bristol Road, south on Neshaminy Boulevard.
The work is part of PennDOT's U.S. 1/RC2 contract that will reconstruct and widen U.S. 1 from south of the Rockhill Drive Interchange to north of the Penndel/Business U.S. 1 Interchange.
