More than 60 Philadelphia Region Police Departments to Participate in Coordinated Aggressive-Driving Enforcement on July 29

King of Prussia, PA – On Wednesday, July 29, over 60 police departments from Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties will join Pennsylvania State Police in a coordinated aggressive-driving enforcement wave to help reduce the number of crashes, injuries, and deaths on roadways as part of a statewide mobilization that runs through August 23, 2020.

The enforcement wave will focus on red light running, tailgating, pedestrian safety and heavy truck violations. Motorists exhibiting other aggressive actions or unsafe behaviors such as speeding or distracted driving may also be cited.

According to 2019 Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) data, there were 1,546 aggressive-driving related crashes, resulting in 22 fatalities in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery, and Philadelphia counties.

Municipal police agencies that participated in last year's campaign made 39,141 aggressive-driving related contacts statewide, which included citing 22,353 drivers for speeding, and 3,077 citations for failure to stop for red lights and stop signs.

The aggressive-driving enforcement is a part of the Pennsylvania Aggressive Driving Enforcement and Education Project and is funded by the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) and the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA).

PennDOT - District 6 News: Route 532 (Bustleton Avenue) Restricted Next Week for Bridge Rehabilitation Project in Philadelphia

Route 532 (Bustleton Avenue) Restricted Next Week for Bridge Rehabilitation Project in Philadelphia

King of Prussia, PA – Lane closures are scheduled on Route 532 (Bustleton Avenue) on Monday, July 27, through Wednesday, July 29, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, between Norwalk Road and Haldeman Road in Philadelphia for bridge sealing, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work area because backups and delays may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent. 

Work on this project will be in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance as well as a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan, which will include protocols for social distancing, use of face coverings, personal and job-site cleaning protocols, management of entries to the jobsite, and relevant training.

The Route 532 (Bustleton Avenue) Bridge over CSX Railroad is one of 12 structures in Chester, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties that PennDOT is repairing under a $9.8 million project financed by Act 89, the state's transportation plan.

Structures completed under this project include:
  • Boot Road over Route 100 in West Whiteland Township, Chester County;
  • Main Street over Norfolk Southern Railroad in Limerick Township, Montgomery County;
  • Route 611 over Pennypack Creek in Upper Moreland, Montgomery County;
  • Route 611 over the Pennsylvania Turnpike ramp in Upper Moreland, Montgomery County;
  • Old Lancaster Road over Amtrak in Tredyffrin Township, Chester County
  • Ross Fording Road over Octoraro Creek in West Fallowfield Township, Chester County;
  • Quakertown Road over Macoby Creek in Upper Hanover Township, Montgomery County; 
  • Route 63 (Welsh Road) over Norfolk Southern Railroad in Upper Dublin and Upper Moreland townships, Montgomery County; and
  • Whitford Road over Valley Creek in West Whiteland Township, Chester County.
The other bridges in this rehabilitation project include:

  • Friendship Church Road over Knight Run in West Fallowfield Township, Chester County; and
  • Gum Tree Road over Doe Run in Highland Township, Chester County.
Loftus Construction, Inc. of Cinnaminson, N.J., is the general contractor on this bridge improvement project that is financed with 100 percent state funds.

Several State Highways Restricted in Philadelphia for Local Project

King of Prussia, PA – Lane restrictions are scheduled on several highways in Philadelphia starting next week for road work due to a local traffic project, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today. 


The work schedules and locations are:

  • Monday, July 27, through Friday, August 28, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, weekday lane restrictions are scheduled on Route 611 (Broad Street) between Cecil B Moore Avenue and Clearfield Street for ADA ramp installations;
  • Monday, July 27, through Friday, August 14, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, weekday lane restrictions are scheduled on U.S. 1 (City Avenue) between 66th Street and Presidential Boulevard for ADA ramp installations; and
  • Monday, July 27, through Friday, August 7, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, weekday lane restrictions are scheduled on Route 291 (Penrose Avenue) at the 26th Street intersection for traffic signalization operations.

The local sponsored project consists of widening Route 291 (Penrose Avenue), upgrading traffic signalization equipment at 26th Street, ADA ramp improvements, road connection to Penrose Ferry Avenue, and other miscellaneous construction.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the areas because backups and delays may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent and subject to change.

Several State Highways Restricted Next week for Bridge Inspections in Bucks, Chester and Philadelphia Counties

King of Prussia PA – Lane restrictions are scheduled on several state highways in Bucks, Chester, and Philadelphia counties for bridge inspections, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

Work on these inspections will be in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance as well as a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan, which will include protocols for social distancing, use of face coverings, personal and job-site cleaning protocols, management of entries to the jobsite, special signage and relevant training.

The work schedule is:

Bucks County

  • Tuesday, July 28, and Wednesday, July 29, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, left and right lane closures are scheduled on Route 63 (Woodhaven Road) between the I-95 interchange and Millbrook Road in Bensalem Township. 

Chester County

  • Wednesday, July 29, 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lane restrictions are scheduled in both directions on U.S. 202 between the Boot Road and U.S. 30 interchanges in East Goshen Township.

Philadelphia

  • Thursday, July 30, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a left lane closure is scheduled on eastbound I-76 between U.S.13/U.S. 30 West and Spring Garden Street interchanges;
  • Monday, July 27, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM. left lane closures are scheduled on northbound I-95 between the Route 90/Betsy Ross Bridge and Route 73/Cottman Avenue interchanges;
  • Monday, July 27, from 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM, left lane closures are scheduled on southbound I-95 between the Route 90/Betsy Ross Bridge and Allegheny Avenue/ Castor Avenue interchanges;
  • Tuesday, July 28, from 9:00 AM to 12:00 PM, rolling right lane closures are scheduled on northbound I-95 between the I-676/U.S. 30 and Allegheny Avenue/Castor Avenue interchanges; and
  • Tuesday, July 28, from 10:30 AM to 3:00 PM, rolling left lane closures are schedules on southbound I-95 between Allegheny Avenue/Castor Avenue and I-676/U.S. 30 interchanges.
Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because slowdowns may occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

PennDOT to Repair and Resurface Several State Highways in the Philadelphia Region

King of Prussia, PA – Motorists will encounter lane restrictions on several state highways in the Philadelphia region for resurfacing operations as a part of several projects to repair and resurface more than 200 miles of state highway in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

Work on these projects will be in accordance with Centers for Disease Control and state Department of Health guidance as well as a project-specific COVID-19 safety plan, which will include protocols for social distancing, use of face coverings, personal and job-site cleaning protocols, management of entries to the jobsite, special signage and relevant training.

The work schedule and locations are:

Bucks County

  • Monday, July 27, through Friday, July 31, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lane restrictions are scheduled on Route 513 (Hulmeville Road/Bellevue Avenue) between Galloway Avenue and Durham Avenue in Penndale/Hulmeville boroughs and Bensalem Township for milling and paving operations.

Chester County

  • Sunday, July 26, through Wednesday, July 29, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, lane restrictions are scheduled on Route 100 (Pottstown Pike) between Welsh Pool Road and Garrison Drive in Uwchlan Township for milling and paving operations.

Montgomery County
 
  • Sunday, July 26, through Friday, July 31, from 7:00 PM to 5 :00 AM, lane restrictions are scheduled on Route 73 (Skippack Pike) between Mara Drive and Bethlehem Pike in Whitpain and Whitemarsh townships for sawing and sealing operations.

Philadelphia

  • Monday, July 27, though Friday, July 31, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lane restrictions are scheduled on Marshall Road between Cobbs Creek Parkway and the Marshall Road Bridge over Cobbs Creek or milling and paving operations.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because slowdowns will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Under these improvement projects, PennDOT is milling the existing roadway surface and repaving the state highways with new asphalt. The new pavement will seal the roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.

Verizon to Restrict Route 611 (Broad Street) and Route 3 (Chestnut Street) Next Week for Utility Work in Philadelphia

King of Prussia, PA – Verizon is planning lane closures on Route 611 (Broad Street) and Route 3 (Chestnut Street) in Philadelphia, on Monday, July 27, through Friday, July 31, from 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, for utility installations, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work locations are:

  • Route 611 (Broad Street) at Susquehanna Avenue; and
  • Route 3 (Chestnut Street) at 39th Street.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Valley Forge Sewer Authority to Close Pothouse Road Next Week for Utility Improvement in Chester County

King of Prussia, PA – Valley Forge Sewer Authority is planning to close Pothouse Road between Evergreen Drive and Potters Pond Drive in Schuylkill Township and Phoenixville Borough, Chester County on Monday, July 27, through Thursday, July 30, for sewer installation, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

During this 24/7 closure, Pothouse Road through traffic will be detoured over Township Line Road, Route 113 (Kimberton Road), Route 23 (Nutt Road) and Bridge Street. Local access will be maintained up to the construction zone.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur.

Valley Forge Sewer Authority will complete this project under a PennDOT Highway Occupancy Permit.
