Lane Closure on Skippack Pike Extended
The gas pipeline repairs that have closed eastbound Skippack Pike (Route 73) in the Township will be extended until approximately October 24. The work is extended due to the nature of the repairs that must be completed by the gas pipeline company, Enbridge.

The eastbound stretch of Skippack Pike, between Narcissa Road and Butler Pike, will remain closed and detoured 24/7 during construction. Motorists will be directed to use Penllyn Blue Pike, Morris Road, Butler Pike. Trucks will be directed to use U.S. 202, Route 63 (Welsh Road), Route 309 (Bethlehem Pike).

Skippack Pike westbound will remain open to traffic. Local access will be maintained at all times.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Portion Of Skippack Pike (Route 73) Closing

PennDOT has announced that gas pipeline maintenance will close eastbound Skippack Pike (Route 73) in the Township beginning Thursday, September 18, through October 9.

The road will be closed and detoured 24/7 through the Narcissa Road intersection. Motorists will be directed to use Penllyn Blue Pike, Morris Road, Butler Pike. Trucks wills be directed to use U.S. 202 (Dekalb Pike), Route 63 (Welsh Road), Route 309 (Bethlehem Pike).

Skippack Pike (Route 73) westbound will remain open to traffic. Local access will be maintained at all times.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling near the work area because backups and delays will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

CSX Rail Repairs To Result In Road Closures
Representatives from CSX Rail recently informed the Township of the need repair multiple rail crossings in Whitpain and surrounding communities. This work is beyond the Township's control as federal rail guidelines supersede local and state authority.

This work will result in a full closure of the roadways listed below, around the clock, at each rail crossing. CSX will post detour signs in the area.

Local residents will have access to their property but will not be able to cross the closed railroad crossings. The schedule below is subject to change based on weather and CSX construction progress. Monitor the Township's website, X and Wire for updates on the work should scheduling changes occur.

Week of October 5
•Township Line Road: Upper Gwynedd/Whitpain Border – Road closed at railroad crossing between N. Wales Road and Audubon Drive in Upper Gwynedd
•Bean Road: Worcester Township – Road closed at railroad crossing between Whitehall Road and N. Wales Road.

Week of October 12
•Golf View Drive: Whitpain Township - Blue Bell Country Club – closed at railroad crossing.
•North Wales Road: Whitpain Township – Closed at railroad crossing between Yost Road and Skippack Pike.

Week of October 19
•Skippack Pike: Closed at railroad crossing between N. Wales Road and Route 202.

Week of October 26
•Township Line Road: East Norriton/Whitpain Border – closed at railroad crossing between N. Wales Road and Swede Road.

ReadyMontco - Upper Hanover Alert

This is a message from ReadyMontco

Lesher's Mill Road Bridge is being closed effective 1:30 PM 10/1/25 . The closure is necessary due to illegal truck traffic across the bridge due to the ROUTE 29 PennDOT Detour. All traffic detoured down Tollgate Road and Palm Hill Road should proceed past Lesher's Mill Road.

The bridge closure is anticipated to be in effect until the completion of PennDOT's Route 29 detour. The Township does not have the staff to open and close the bridge daily. If you have a question or concern, please contact the Township at 215-679-4401.
