Daytime and Nighttime Lane Restrictions Scheduled for Repair and Resurfacing Operations in Philadelphia

Daytime and Nighttime Lane Restrictions Scheduled for Repair and
Resurfacing Operations in Philadelphia

8/25/2017-KING OF PRUSSIA

Daytime and nighttime lane restrictions are scheduled next week on several
state highways, including Interstate 95 and Interstate 76, as part of a
project
to repair and resurface 16.5 miles of state highway in Philadelphia, the
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule:

• Monday, August 28, through Wednesday, August 30, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM,

lane restrictions are scheduled in both directions on I-95 between the
Delaware
County line and the I-95 Girard Point Bridge for crack sealing;
• Monday, August 28, through Wednesday, August 30, from 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM,

lane restrictions are scheduled in both directions on I-76 between the 30th

Street and Spring Garden Street interchanges for crack sealing;
• Monday, August 28, through Thursday, August 31, from 7:00 PM to 6:00 AM,
lane
restrictions are scheduled on Rhawn Street between U.S. 1 (Roosevelt
Boulevard)
and State Road for crack sealing;
• Monday, August 28, through Friday, September 1, from 7:00 AM to 4:00 PM,
lane
restrictions are scheduled on Vine Street between 6th Street and 18th
Street
for resurfacing operations; and
• Wednesday, August 30, through Friday, September 1, from 7:00 PM to 6:00
AM,
lane restrictions are scheduled on Girard Avenue between Susquehanna Avenue
and
Broad Street (Route 611) for paving.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through these work

zones because slowdowns will occur during construction. The contractor's
schedule is dependent on the weather.

Additional state highways scheduled for resurfacing under this contract
include:

• Walnut Street between Broad Street (Route 611) and Front Street;
• Chestnut Street between 22nd Street and 21st Street; and
• Vine Street between the Benjamin Franklin Parkway and 7th Street.

State highways completed under this resurfacing project include:

• Ridge Avenue between U.S. 13 (33rd Street) and Spring Garden Street; and
• Pennsylvania Avenue/Spring Garden Street between 26th Street and Delaware

Avenue.

Under this improvement project, PennDOT is milling the existing roadway
surface
and repaving the state highways with new asphalt. The new pavement will
seal
the roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface. In
addition,
crews are performing crack sealing operations on select roads.

Work on the entire project is expected to be completed in mid-November.

James J. Anderson Construction Co., Inc., of Philadelphia, is the general
contractor on the $7,136,316 project which is financed with 100 percent
state
funds.
