Lane Closure Scheduled Thursday on Southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard)
Outer Lane at Rhawn Street in Philadelphia

9/27/2017-KING OF PRUSSIA

Motorists traveling on the outer lanes of southbound U.S. 1 (Roosevelt
Boulevard) will encounter a right lane closure at the intersection with
Rhawn
Street in Philadelphia on Thursday, September 28, from 9:00 AM to 4:30 PM,
for
placement of a new bus shelter, the Pennsylvania Department of
Transportation
announced (PennDOT) today.

The work is part of a city project to construct new bus shelters, plazas
and
sidewalks along the U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard) corridor at the
intersections
of Cottman Avenue (Route 73), Rhawn Street, Welsh Road, Grant Avenue and
Red
Lion Road.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling on southbound U.S.
1
(Roosevelt Boulevard) in the work area because backups and delays will
occur
during this operation.

A.P. Construction, Inc., of Blackwood, NJ, is the general contractor on the

$2.5 million project which is financed with federal and local funds.
Construction is expected to be completed in spring 2018.

The city's project coincides with PennDOT's improvement project to repair
and
resurface 12 miles of the outer lanes on U.S. 1 (Roosevelt Boulevard)
between
9th Street and the Bucks County line. Under this improvement project,
PennDOT
is milling the existing roadway surface and repaving the outside, local
lanes
with new asphalt. The project also includes resurfacing crossover lanes.
The
new pavement will seal the roadways and provide motorists with a smoother
riding surface.
