Lane Closures Scheduled on I-95 North Collector-Distributor Road to Betsy
Ross, Bridge Street Interchanges in Philadelphia

3/23/2018-KING OF PRUSSIA

Daytime lane closures will be in place next week on the northbound I-95
collector-distributor road between the Betsy Ross Bridge and Bridge Street
interchanges in Philadelphia for installation of sound barrier walls, the
Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

Crews will reduce the northbound I-95 collector-distributor road from
two-lanes-to-one on Monday, March 26 through Friday, March 30, from 9:00 AM
to
3:00 PM. The collector-distributor road separates northbound I-95
through-traffic from northbound motorists accessing the off-ramp to Bridge
Street and the northbound on and off-ramps to and from the Betsy Ross
Bridge.

In addition, several surface streets near the I-95 interchanges at
Allegheny
Avenue and Girard Avenue will be closed during the day next week for
construction.

The work schedule is:

• Monday, March 26, through Friday, March 30, from 7:00 AM to 3:30 PM,
northbound Richmond Street will be closed to through traffic between Ann
Street
and Allegheny Avenue for gas line installation;
• Tuesday, March 27, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Somerset Street will be
closed
between Salmon Street and Richmond Street for construction on the overhead
I-95
north viaduct; and
• Wednesday, March 28, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, Girard Avenue will be
closed
between Aramingo Avenue and Richmond Street for construction on the
overhead
I-95 north viaduct.

Signs will direct motorists on Richmond Street, Somerset Street and Girard
Avenue to local detours. Drivers are advised to allow extra time when
traveling
through the work areas. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

The viaduct construction is part of PennDOT's $212 million project
(I-95/GR3)
to reconstruct I-95 at the Girard Avenue Interchange.

The sound barrier wall installation is being done as part of the $160.2
million
project to rebuild ramps and improve connections between I-95, the Betsy
Ross
Bridge and Aramingo Avenue.

The utility work is part of the reconstruction and improvement of Richmond
Street between Ann Street and Westmoreland Street, the first stage in the
larger reconstruction of I-95 between Allegheny Avenue and Frankford Creek
(I-95/AFC).
