U.S. 30/Exton Bypass Ramp to U.S. 202 North Reduced to One Lane Next
Weekend

The ramp from eastbound U.S. 30/Exton Bypass to U.S. 202 north in East
Whiteland and West Whiteland townships, Chester County, will be reduced
from
two-lanes-to-one for approximately nine months beginning next weekend for
replacement of deteriorated concrete pavement, the Pennsylvania Department
of
Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

Crews will set up the single-lane traffic pattern on the ramp overnight
Friday,
April 6, following nighttime lane restrictions earlier in the week on
northbound and southbound U.S. 202 for construction at the interchange.

Beginning Monday morning, April 9, motorists on eastbound U.S. 30/Exton
Bypass
approaching U.S. 202 should allow extra time for travel through the work
area,
or use an alternate route, as significant backups are expected during the
morning and afternoon rush hours through late fall for the duration of the
ramp
repair operation.

The ramp repairs are being done under PennDOT's $26.4 million project that
also
includes rehabilitation of the northbound and southbound U.S. 202 bridges
over
Amtrak at the U.S. 30 Interchange. In late 2017, PennDOT completed
replacement
of the deteriorated concrete from the outside lane of the two-lane ramp
from
southbound U.S. 202 to U.S. 30 and the U.S. 30/Exton Bypass.

Motorists on northbound and southbound U.S. 202 also will encounter lane
restrictions and stoppages next week for other construction activities on
the
bridges.

Weather permitting, the work schedule is:

• Tuesday, April 3, from 8:00 PM to 2:00 AM Wednesday, April 4, northbound
and
southbound U.S. 202 will be reduced to a single lane between the Route 401
and
U.S. 30 interchanges for construction on the southbound bridge over Amtrak
and
the U.S. 30 ramp. Southbound U.S. 202 motorists also will encounter
periodic
stoppages of up to 15 minutes periodically during the operation;

• Thursday, April 5, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM Friday, April 6, northbound
U.S.
202 will be reduced to a single lane between the Boot Road and Route 401
interchanges for adjustments to the traffic pattern at the work zone; and

• Friday, April 6, from 8:00 PM to 10:00 AM Saturday, April 7, the ramp
from
the U.S. 30/Exton Bypass to northbound U.S. 202 will be closed as crews set
up
the long-term traffic pattern that will reduce the ramp to a single lane
for
replacement of deteriorated concrete. U.S. 30 motorists heading for U.S.
202
north will be directed to exit at Business U.S. 30, turn right on Business
U.S.
30, then turn right onto the ramp to northbound U.S. 202.

Allan A Myers, Inc. of Worcester, Montgomery County, is the general
contractor
on the project, which is financed with 100 percent federal funds.
