PennDOT to Repair and Resurface 11 State Highways Across the Philadelphia Region

King of Prussia, PA – Motorists will encounter lane restrictions on several state highways across the Philadelphia region for resurfacing operations as a part of several projects to repair and resurface more than 200 miles of state highway in Bucks, Chester, Delaware, Montgomery and Philadelphia counties, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) announced today.

The work schedule and locations are:

Bucks County

• Monday, September 23, through Friday, September 27, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a single lane closure is scheduled on Allentown Road between Finland Road and Schukraft Road in West Rockhill Township for high friction surface treatment.

Chester County

•Monday, September 23, through Friday, September 27, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a single lane closure is scheduled on Route 52 (Lenape Road) between Valley Road and Lenape Unionville Road in Pocopson Township for high friction surface treatment; and
• Monday, September 23, through Friday, September 27, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a single lane closure is scheduled on Sugarsbridge Road between U.S. 322 (Downingtown Pike) and Telegraph Road in West Bradford Township for high friction surface treatment.

Delaware County

• Sunday, September 22, through Friday, September 27, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, a single lane closure is scheduled on Route 320 (Chester Road/Providence Road/Madison Street) between Avondale Road and Route 291 (4th Street) in Nether Providence Township and the City of Chester for milling and paving operations; and
• Sunday, September 22, through Friday, September 27, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, a single lane closure is scheduled on Route 320 (Sproul Road) between U.S. 1 (State Road) and Route 3 (West Chester Pike) in Springfield and Marple townships for milling and paving operations.

Montgomery County

• Saturday, September 21, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM, lane restrictions are scheduled on eastbound U.S. 422 between the Trooper Road and Egypt Road interchanges in Upper Providence and Lower Providence townships for line striping;
• Sunday, September 22, from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM, lane restrictions are scheduled on Kenas Road between Route 463 (Horsham Road) and County Line Road in Montgomery Township for milling operations;
• Sunday, September 22, through Friday, September 27, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, a single lane closure is scheduled on Route 663 (Layfield Road) between Route 73 (Big Road) and Hill Road in Upper Fredrick Township for milling and paving operations; and
• Monday, September 23, through Friday, September 27, from 9:00 AM to 3:00 PM, a single lane closure is scheduled on Schwenksville Road between Pennypacker Road and Heflin Road in Upper Salford and Perkiomen townships for high friction surface treatment.


Philadelphia County

• Monday, September 23, through Friday, September 27, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM, the ramp from Columbus Boulevard to Interstate 95 North at Locust Circle will be closed and detoured for ramp repair. During the closure, Columbus Boulevard motorists will be directed to access the northbound I-95 ramp at Summer Street or Penns Landing;
• Wednesday, September 25, through Friday, September 27, from 8:00 PM to 5:00 AM, the ramp from Interstate 676 East to Interstate 95 South will be closed and detoured for ramp repair. During the closure, I-676 motorists will be directed to use I-95 North exit at Allegheny Avenue and follow signs to I-95 South; and
• Thursday, September 26, through Thursday, October 3, from 7:00 AM to 3:00 PM and 7:00 PM to 5:00 AM, weekday lane closures are scheduled on Walnut Street between 24th Street and Broad Street for milling and paving operations.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time when traveling through the work areas because slowdowns will occur. All scheduled activities are weather dependent.

Under these improvement projects, PennDOT is milling the existing roadway surface and repaving the state highways with new asphalt. The new pavement will seal the roadways and provide motorists with a smoother riding surface.
